Talked to multiple people who explained their homestay as well as other guests here that been in other parts of Raja Ampat and it seems like the standard here is much better than in most other places.

The bedroom was very spacious and clean, built with high-quality, sturdy materials. The decor was beautiful, and the view was amazing.
There was a USB charger in the bedroom which was convenient for charge your mobile and camera.
Electricity was available 24/7, and the Wi-Fi signal was strong in every room and throughout the resort.
The private bathroom was clean, and the water pressure was very strong.
The housel reef was stunning—you could spend an entire week exploring it.

Arrived on Tuesday afternoon, Julia and Mothy picked us up at Waisai. Storm was raging but they prepared everything so our big bags were not wet. Even though waves were very high, Timothy mastered ocean and found our way through the waves. We were then welcomed by the rest of the family with a delicious tea time and snorkeled in front of the homestay, lost in the small satellite islands around Gam island. The place is peaceful, quiet, and extremely beautiful in the middle of nowhere in the Raja Ampat : a Lunar experience.
On Wednesday, Timothy and Julia organized us a fabulous daytrip around Gam Island between Sawingrai village, light water, labyrinth mangroves, magical reefs, caves, view points, snorkelings, painted hands geopark famous site, hidden bays, beach walk, coconut… everything was perfect and made very friendly and warm welcoming by Julia, and very fun with Timothy’s talents to drive the boat as a sports car driver in tight ways and hard turnovers !
We left on Thursday after another little trip with Timothy for a batcave and snorkeling morning.
We saw everything with them : lots of reef fishes and bigger fishes, manta, dolphins, blacktop sharks, turtles … and even the rarest and endemic Wobbegong shark.
What made the experience different and fantastic is the kindness of this whole family working together and making everything seem effortless and great even though it could be hard work for them.
Shady Homestay is THE PLACE TO BE for visiting Gam island with the fun experience on board with Timothy and the warm welcome and comfort of the delicious food provided by Julia and their family.
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
We will definitely come back.

ItalyWe stayed at Panorama guesthouse for a week during low season and it has been amazing. James and his family always went an extra mile to make us feel at home and to help us with moving around Batanta and organising our trip in a fast and reliable way(including picking us up from Waisai and taking us to Sorong). We felt welcomed and taken care of.
The house is basic, but fully new and spacious, they cleaned it every three days, they changed bed sheets, mosquito net is new, comfortable bed, there is everything you need.
The food was always freshly cooked, tasty and abundant. We always had veggies raw and cooked, rice, noodles, fresh fish/tempeh and tofu and fruit. They gave us fruit and little cakes as snacks, coffee and tea are always available. Breakfast was also good and satisfying.
The private beach is just heaven, quiet and relaxing. There is a great coral reef right in front of the house, we saw many fishes and a baby shark. You can see sunset and sunrise directly from the house.
You can visit the small village next to the house, 5 mins by walk. There is a diving center (gears top notch) 20 mins far by boat where we had a great night dive.
We would definitely recommend this place to everyone that wants to live a local experience in a edenic place very off the beaten track.
It's a place and a holiday we'll never forget.

GermanyWe had a truly wonderful and memorable time in this beautiful part of Raja Ampat. Our host went out of his way to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable, always being thoughtful and attentive. One of the highlights was a fantastic snorkeling day, during which our host spotted a manta ray, a turtle, and numerous large fish. What we appreciated most was the intimate and peaceful atmosphere of the place – with only two cabins currently operating, it felt both private and familiar. Also the house reef is very nice, so we could enjoy snorkeling just jumping into the water from bungalow. Lunch and dinner were also very delicious, I very much appreciated the ginger tee in the evening.

FranceThis homestay on Besir island is ideally located near several interests spots in Raja Ampat. The place is calm, only two cabins on the water, connected to a village full of charm. The utilities are on the beach, near the owner's house. It's very clean and has everything required to answer basic needs. Regarding the rooms, mosquito net on the bed, fan, electricity at night, blankets, hammock, sunbed and basic furnitures. All the meals (included in the reservation) are served to your cabin, they vary and are prepared by an great cook! So everything is tasteful and good.
No connection except if you get a SIM card on arrival at Sorong's airport but deconnection is great.
It's easy to communicate with the owner who speaks well English (rare in Raja Ampat) and he tries his best for you to have the best stay possible. Him and his family are super nice and welcoming while respecting your privacy.
I came with a friend and we stayed 3 full days, we had an amazing time there and we can only recommend this place. All the activities we've done through them were memorable, we had a lot of fun.

Homestay itself is professionaly run by Tina ( she speaks little English) and Ronald (he speaks English). Each hut has own bathroom with proper shower and western toilet, mirror as well. There is only cold water but during sunny day it can become hot - good for shaving. Huts are spacious plus you have veranda with hammock, 2 chairs and table. Tina prepares nice 3 meals per day switching between sweet breakfast of different kind and fish or chicken for dinner and lunch. Tina clean all area regularly even all rubbish hight tide brings, so whole area looks nice. Rised beds are ok, good quality mosquito net is there too. But in February here was only few mosquitos. No rats or mouses during our stay. Best coral just infront of bungalow - you can either access it from nearby jetty Yenkoranu (there are steps to see level) and swim back abive coral reef 400m towards homestay or you can directly swim about 50m to reef edge from homestay. Entire northern Kri reef is wonderful, by my openion much better than Yenbuba jetty and Sauwandarek jetty area, these are overrated. Good water, tea, coffee and condensed sweet milk provided. Just next homestay starts short 1km hike to viewpoint. Path is clearly marked by red dots. Starting the same path and turning right once uphill will lead you during high tide close to small Ransiwor island and from there you can easily swim to Yenbuba jetty (or walk during low tide) - during low tide you can walk entire path around beach to Yenbuba... Please mind this is not resort, huts are simple but new. No towels provided and you have to ask for bed linen if you want to cover yourself. Sheets are ok. Toilet paper provided. Great snorkling at the jetty. The hole resort is well maintained by a happy bunch. Great place if you travel with non-divers as well since there are many activities available for them while you dive. The beach is great! Even though R4 is such a vast place several of the best dive locations are within reach with speedboat. Food is great too. The trash in the water was disappointing and considering we are paying marine pass and diving fees it’s disappointing to not see any effort to be cleaning the seas or collection of the amount of trash. There are also no dedicated trails to explore the island and again, fees should be used to create this feature to enhance the visitor experience. Abundance of marine life, slow pace. I’d recommend bringing a snorkel vest for Raja Ampat for visibility to boats and safety just in case caught in a current. Snorkeling here was just about as good as the diving in the area was. Recommend bringing a flashlight when traveling here. I had no problems with mosquitoes; nevertheless, I used the mosquito net every night. I recommend going to see the GIANT turtles about 20 minutes away by boat. The staffs are friendly, the excursion, day trip price is reasonable, foods are full board, meals are great with variety of fish, meat and vegetables, fruits. Location is great and close to most attractions dive, snorkeling spots. The house reef is ok and easy to swim when high tide. The location is very beautiful. Beautiful landscapes, it's a shame that it's starting to become a tourist location. Plastic started appearing everywhere, in the water and on the ground. The locals are only interested in money, they do nothing against plastic pollution. Upon entering the area, you are charged a fee used for the maintenance and development of the area, but I personally have not seen anything in this regard. The prices of products and transport are very high compared to other areas, being justified by the high price of fuel. In my opinion, this fuel price is not as high as the locals claim, being the only reason for the excessively high prices and the desire for profit. i spent 3 weeks on kri , so i cant compare to other islands...
i spent 3 weeks on kri , so i cant compare to other islands except Arborek (kri reef far superior). other travelers say kri next best to Pam (Fam) for reef quality. you can walk the whole island on the beach at low tide except the southeast quadrant where there are no homestays. you can also walk to neighboring Mansuar Island at low tide; i snorkeled there twice - the reef extends all the way between islands - but it is at least a kilometer and maybe a bit far for most people. no stores of any kind on kri; Mansuar has a small shop at Yenbuba (not to be confused with Yenbuba Homestay on Kri) wher yu can buy sodas, bandaids, insect repellent, toothpaste, sweets. hike up the trail on a clear day to the top of the mountain where there is a good view of the west half of the islandGuest review byEdwin Roland - 10.0

Raja Ampat was a dream!
Raja Ampat was a dream! We couldn't be happier with our stay! Methos, Jonas (our guide), and the family were super super nice to us, and made our trip a dream! We did all the "excursions" with Methos, while Jonas was our guide. They were super flexible and nice with it, and snorkeling was amazing! We saw reef sharks, big turtles, manta rays, and all the different fishes and corals. Absolutely amazing! The homestay is also amazing! It is in the water, and we saw most days dolphins passing by early in the morning and late in the afternoon. We could watch the sunset from the balcony! We stayed for a week there and we felt we needed at least a week more! Small tips and things to take into account. There is no wi-fi, but the 4G works quite well. You can take this time to disconnect, but if not, make sure to have a big internet package plan. The bathroom/shower is with a bucket. Very different, but we got used to it very quickly and was quite nice to have this different experience. There are no fans/ac, so it might get a bit warm at night. Most nights we had a bit of rain, which made the temperature perfect :) All in all, would 100% go back and it made us fall in love with the place. One the most enchanting place on earth. I have travelled to many places (Carribbean, Hawaii, Fiji, Bali, Philippines, South America...) Raja Ampat ranks among the firsts: snorkeling in spectacular clear waters, diving in ocean paradise full of diversity. I like the people too, they are helpful and calm. Though life isn't easy for anybody... Getting around is mainly by taxis (cars, motorbike, taxi boat...), isn't difficult to find but can be very costly. Be sure to have a local SIM by registering your phone with a provider as internet isn't widely available. I was recommended Telkomsel and it worked pretty ok just a bit slower than in Europe, got network problem on one afternoon. This along with power banks and eventually a flashlight. Night time isn't powered with lamps, some places do with solar panels but may not be sufficient in term of lighting. Waterproof bags are a must to protect your items during your trips, + sunscreen clothing/accessories. I am not mentioning lotions as they can be a source of pollution to water and marine life.
