- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 130 reviewsElizabeth was a great host; she provided a home-cooked breakfast with locally sourced ingredients from Monaghan, which was fantastic. The rooms were cute and cozy. The bathroom was large, and the shower was very friendly, with excellent water pressure. This was our first overnight stay in Ireland in a commercial, non-hotel environment. We didn't know what to expect from the B&B experience, and overall, it was great. Our host was very knowledgeable of things to do and places to stay in the other cities of Ireland we were traveling to.Guest review byNatalieUnited States
- From $107.78 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 67 reviewsJohn was the perfect host. Excellent breakfasts. Great insights into where to go and what to do. He engaged in long conversations on everything from local entertainment to thoughtful comparisons of history and governments. My room was comfortable; it had a great view. A shared common room had even better views, and it was great for planning the next several days. I stayed for over a week and will return.Guest review byCharlesUnited States

The people on the street actually speak to you when they meet you. It's a very relaxing town, where one can switch off. There's a pub/restaurant called The Squealing Pig. The staff were lovely, and the food was fabulous. My one regret is not going inside a local cathedral which was massive, gothic in style and gorgeous from the outside. The external architecture was a wow, but didn't have time to see it internally.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 8.0

There is very little in Clones but we were there to visit friends. You can eat in the Creighton Hotel in Clones but it wasn't great. We found a lovely pub restaurant in Belturbet called the Seven Horseshoes. If you want to trace your Irish ancestry the library in Clones has an excellent genealogy section and staff to helpGuest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Monaghan town seems to have no real focal centre but this doesn't stop it from being a warm and interesting place to stay for a few days. I suggest a visit to the County Museum first in its brilliant new home. The present displays give you a feel for the region and the peoples over centuries as they lived and live their lives in a genuine "borderland". Congratulations to the Museum curators. Such a visit will stand you in good stead to enjoy the friendly population and their places of hospitality and their ways of life in their almost unique county.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 8.0

A town not too far from Dublin airport and within easy distance to Co Tyrone ,Northern Ireland. The locals very very friendly and the local pubs were traditional , well at least the ones I went into. YES the Guinness does taste different to the British variety .Ireland in common with most places these days is not a cheap place ,indeed the price of property is on par with England as opposed to a few years when it was dirt cheap. Roads generally in good repair , the main ones , the side roads can be problematic.Guest review byPATRICKUnited Kingdom - 2.0

They have 2 big aggressive dogs and one of them attacked my wife. We was scared to go out or come to the property. Very bad experience! The living room and kitchen was located. No tea or coffee in the room ! For this money I can get much better place! Online pictures are lie ! It's a old house and not comfortable..I mean ugly inside... On the breakfast was a problem to get tea and coffee ... Breakfast was not that good ! JUST BAD EXPERIENCE!Guest review byDim - 10.0

Monaghan is great - a relatively undiscovered part of Ireland and as such a hidden gem, with a broad range of walking/hiking options and quite some historically important sites, also with castles, gardens, parks and lakes. County Monaghan has got it all.Guest review byRonaldNetherlands
