I booked this Hotel for my Parents and I was quite concern about the booking. As the hotel is newly opened,it has a few review. I am very much impressed about the service, maintainanance of the hotel. The location is good. I would never forget the service that Mr. Parambir offered my Parents. My parents were not that much techie and I was worried. Mr. Parambir helped my Parents even to book cabs for a very affordable price. I am thankful to him to make their trip experience seemless. I would highly Recommend if anyone is thinking to book this hotel and going to my review.

    Let me start by saying that the staff at the Ri Kynjai made our visit extra special. Without exception they were friendly, polite, efficient and very helpful at all times. On the front desk, Dean, in particular, did a great job of planning itineraries for the 3 day visits we did in the surrounding areas. We stayed in one of the cottages which was very spacious, well equipped and had a fabulous view of Lake Umiam. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in! The log fire was a great bonus and we spent a couple of very pleasant evenings having our room service dinner in front of a blazing fire - it gave the room a very cozy atmosphere! The architecture of the building is very interesting and the grounds are quite beautiful and very well kept. The Ri Kynjai is a very special place and we are very glad that we had the privilege and pleasure of staying there.

    Wonderful location and super friendly staff. Great food ! Superb views ! When I arrived by motorbike,... soaked to the bone and freezing,... the two lovely lads on reception brought out fan heaters to thaw me out, and fished out old newspapers to stuff my sodden shoes with. Another great example of Indian humanity and caring. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

    The city really becomes congested during office hours and in the evening. The roads are incapable to handle the ever increasing no of vehicles in the evening. Traffic is virtually standstill when you enter the city after sight seeing. In all the places for visit there is a plethora of charge for car parking and entry fee by pvt parties or local bodies which is killing the spirit of tourism here.Moreover the cost of food items at the places of visit are much higher compared to other places. Over pricing of such tourist places and mad rush for people for holidaying will eventually finish the charm of the area.

    Trek to single decker and double decker root bridge was awesome. Arwah caves provided us with an experience of limestone caves However, most of the water falls in an around cheerapunji are running on their final breaths if you visit during february and I do not recommend you do that

    Must visit. Small off beat remote village with heavenly beauty and clear kanchanjangha mountain view. Elderly people can go as you don't need to climb anywhere. Amidst nature, garden, butterflies, mountain and your close buddies ! If you are the peaceful type then must visit this amazing place. Please note that cigarettes/ wines not available so must Carry before you reach here.

    Firstly, La Renada is located in Mawngap and not Mawphlang.

    Firstly, La Renada is located in Mawngap and not Mawphlang. Mawngap is around 5 km before Mawphlang when traveling from Shillong. The approach road to the resort is clearly shown on Google Maps but the road opening is not too big and needs some careful attention. The resort is lovely, with ideal location on the outskirts of the village of Mawngap. There is a trampoline, a swimming pool and an open kitchen for guests. The staff (Lam and Sam) are very helpful and are absolutely wonderful. Security at the resort is good and the rooms are clean with nice bathrooms and comfortable beds. Food can be ordered over phone to a partner restaurant from where the packed food is collected by the staff and brought to your room. The owner was also very responsive and quick to respond to any queries or issues. Glad to have found this place..

    Shillong, as a city, certainly offers a level of comfort and convenience. You'll find amenities and a more urban feel here compared to other parts of Meghalaya. However, if your primary goal in visiting the North East or Meghalaya is to experience its unparalleled natural beauty, I would strongly suggest skipping Shillong as a primary destination. The true beauty of Meghalaya lies in its villages and mountains. The raw, untouched landscapes, the living root bridges, the pristine waterfalls, and the vibrant local life are best experienced outside the confines of the city. While Shillong can serve as a transit point or a base for day trips to nearby attractions like Umiam Lake or Elephant Falls, it doesn't encapsulate the unique charm and natural grandeur that the rest of the state offers. For those seeking an immersive encounter with Meghalaya's breathtaking scenery and authentic cultural experiences, venturing beyond Shillong into its rural heartland is highly recommended.

    It is easy to reach Shillong from Guwahati.

    It is easy to reach Shillong from Guwahati. The place is nice. The people are good. Food could be an issue for veg folks. HOwever, there are some restaurants that serve veg dishes but they are less as compared to northern India so that can be a problem. SO, plan accordingly. Otherwise, everything about Meghalaya is nice.

    The place has got a sleepy vibe and yet it awakens your soul. The kids here add to the poem the place is. With their innocent antics on the road, the place is best explored walking but we didn't get chance to do that in the village.
