Holt Inn is a magical place, so remote in the beautiful West Fjords with extraordinary views. The service was excellent. A true example of hospitality. The room comfortable and very clean. We loved our stay there and recommend it highly.

The accomodations and establishment are very nice. The whole feeling of this place is very unique. It's not just a place where the views are amazing, but also a farm where you can see horses and also 2 very nice dogs. You have a hot sprint outside and inside. We've been in Iceland 3 times and here we ate the best food from all the places. This guesthouse is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. I will not be surprised if in the future people will visit the west fjords only to stay here. I can't recommend it enough. Thank you so much for having us. Wished we stayed longer!

Easy to find and right opposite the bay. Lots of parking. Good breakfast. Had a meal one night which was great and nice waiters. Good welcome at reception. A bakery just around the corner which sold rolls and provisions and pieces of pizza too. Most people visited the bird cliffs I expect judging from all the dusty cars. Worth the drive there and last day we visited the famous inland waterfalls at Dynjandi………which were amazing and loos there. Only signposted 2hen nearly there but you get an awesome view of interior and #nowline. Really good.

The host is very laid back and is very kind and lovely. Everyone working there is wonderful. We had our dinner there and the mushroom soup, the cod and the blueberry skyr dessert were excellent. The waiter even held our baby for a while so we could have some quiet time during the meal. The breakfast was perfect with different bread options and lovely spreads and cheese + cold cuts. We highly recommend this hotel.

    Very nice town.

Very nice town. Was the starting and stopping point for multiple day bicycle tour of Westfjords. People were great especially Tyler Wacker of Cycling Westfjords who provided advice and support for our tour.

    I loved the location.

I loved the location. We enjoyed a squall while hunkering down in the main dining area. Only complaint was that the access to turn on the lights in the main sitting/dining area was behind a sign that said no access/staff only. Cute and charming place with some rooms having a beautiful ocean view. There is a museum next door where we ate as during the time of year we visited was the only restaurant open. It was delicious and had a great selection for the size of the restaurant. The town is very picturesque and also has a church with rainbow steps leading up the side of a hill.

Patró is my old hometown, I was born here and I love it.

Patró is my old hometown, I was born here and I love it. The beautiful mountain scenery, the still evenings like nowhere else and the amazing nature to visit in the area, Rauðasandur, Látrabjarg and the Folkmuseum at Hnjótur to name some. Don't miss out on the dining at Stúkuhúsið, we went their night after night and always got really delicious food every time. Local fish and lamb meat. Another spot not to miss is the swimming pool "with a view" and take time to visit "Pollurinn" The Hot Pool, only 25 minutes away open 24/7 Try the "Ærslabelgur" the trampolin in the town center plus the swings (any age) to add to the fun! Take a stroll down to the harbour, and alongside the waterfront. Sometimes you might even spot a whale nearby!

very small quiet fishing village in north Iceland.

very small quiet fishing village in north Iceland. There is a store, and a gas station. There are hot spa pools by the sea. In the summer there is a ferry to a small island less than a km off the coast, where there are puffins.

Flateyri is a very small village, right on the coast.

Flateyri is a very small village, right on the coast. Do not expect many facilities. There is a petrol station with auto pay, and a very small shop, but that's about it. Very quiet. It is very convenient to places like Isafjordur and Dynjandi.

I would have liked to spend more time in Súðavík.

I would have liked to spend more time in Súðavík. I had just read Satu Rämö's crime novel "Hildur" where action took place in Súðavík. It's the great book! I recomment to read it and then explore the places described in te book. We had no time to do it unfortunately for different reasons. By the way, Súðavík apartment is a very nice place to stay!

The idea base camp for time spent in the Westfjords region.

The idea base camp for time spent in the Westfjords region. If you have a rental car, you can drive anywhere else you'd like to see, but Ísafjörður has the most options for town activities. The location in the fjord is incredible. I would visit again.

Holmavik is a beautiful village on the Steingrimsfjordur...

Holmavik is a beautiful village on the Steingrimsfjordur with charming architecture (especially the church!) and nice restaurants. It's a perfect stop on your way to or from the West Fjords. We stayed there the last night of our 6-night visit in the West Fjords in order to be close to Drangsnes, where we were taking a boat to Grimsey Island and whale watching the next day. I booked a room in Holmavik because there weren't any available in Drangsnes, but we were so glad I did! We visited the national Witchcraft Museum while in Holmavik and ate out in one of its many restaurants. We loved Holmavik and will certainly come back on our next trip to Iceland.

Patreksfjöður has a splendid municipal pool--go there!

Patreksfjöður has a splendid municipal pool--go there! Something else just a little different: Patreksfjöður is the recipient of some significant government funding (or so I suppose--the project had to have been a massive undertaking) to construct a huge avalanche mitigation system. It created two enormous walls wall to block and direct snow from coming off the incredibly steep sides of the fjord and burying the town--as has tragically happened in other towns located in the extremely steep-sided fjords. In Patreksfjöður, they also put a walkway along the top of the wall. It has an absolutely marvelous view out over the town to the fjord and the mountains to the south. There are benches and picnic tables to bring a lunch and enjoy the sights in clement weather. I thought it was one of the best win-wins I have ever seen!
