FAQs about hotels in Campania
Stunning Scenery and Remarkable Ruins
Wonderful beach resorts, a wealth of history and winding, cliff-hugging roads – these are just a few reasons why Campania is so admired.
Spreading around a bay, the capital Naples is a mix of monumental architecture and narrow streets. Known for pizza and pulsating life night and day, it extends along the coast towards Pozzuoli, site of a Roman amphitheatre and the Phlegrean Fields volcanic area.
The most notorious volcano is of course Vesuvius, whose eruption in 79AD destroyed Pompei and Herculaneum. The ruins of both are an amazing insight into the sophistication of the Romans. Even older are the well-preserved Greek temples at Paestum.
Agropoli sits on a rocky promontory overlooking a beach and harbour, and beautiful Palinuro is at the tip of the Cilento National Park. Other fantastic Campania resorts are on the amazing Amalfi Coast. Ravello, high on a hill, offers stunning coastal views, while Amalfi and Positano cascade down to the sea. Around the peninsula is Sorrento, home to several 5-star Campania hotels, while offshore are the fabulous islands of Capri and Ischia.
Inland Caserta has an impressive Royal Palace with huge gardens, and Avellino nestles in a valley between the port of Salerno and Benevento, site of yet more Roman remains. See Booking.com for an excellent range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Campania.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 200 reviewsOur stay with you was 10/10. We were delighted with our accommodation and the customer service was just wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were incredibly curtious and helpful, the grounds were so well kept, the food - just excellent. There were lots of places to sit and relax during our sat, either by the pool, on the veranda or in the patio space. We had a wonderful time - thank you. The best place was a small walk through a woodland to the beach where there was a delightful bar and restaurant along with loungers a-plenty, just next to the sea. Everyone at Oleandri Resort made our stay memorable, everyone was so lovely. Thank you.Guest review byLottieUnited Kingdom

Although it is crowded in the central areas, Naples makes seems as if you have stumbled into a party you did not know was taking place. We made sure to keep valuables in our front pockets, we never felt in danger. There are endless things to discover. We regret not going to the art museum in Via Toledo where a Caravaggio is an permanent display. We had planned to go after a visit to the Napoli Sotteranea, but were too tired to approach it. Naples is a little gritty, but the central, historic center goes back 2,500 years, and one must make allowances for the crowded condition. Food is out of the world, and I'd like to recommend a place called 'O Cuzzetiello for lunch on the go. Great value and so good. If you are a coffee drinker get ready for caffeine overload. Of course, you cannot have a bad pizza in this town. A pizza that pre-dates Colombus is pizza fritta, dough filled with ricotta and fried. No tomatoes. Enjoy.Guest review byPatriziaUnited States - 10.0

Sorrento is busy and bustling, full of family run restaurants and lovely shops. We experienced wonderful service in almost every place we went, with lots of humour and warmth. There is plenty to see in Sorrento itself, as well as being conveniently located for day trips to the surrounding areas (Pompeii, the Amalfi coast etc).Guest review byAnonymousSwitzerland - 10.0
Ischia is a lovely island.
Ischia is a lovely island. We were only there for 2 nights and 3 days so didn't get the chance to explore it as much as we wanted, but we loved what we saw and would love to return. There were many places to eat in the town of Ischia, and we also explored the San'tangelo area. One of our favourite meals was at a simple family run restaurant called Porta di Agartha, which is part way up Mount Epomeo. The food is lovely and the people were so welcoming. It is a nice alternative to the seaside locations available on the island.Guest review byCaterinaAustralia - 10.0

Salerno is a great place to stay if you are visiting the Amalfi coast. Salerno is central for trains, buses and ferries. We rented a private boat for a day cruise along the Amalfi coast. Absolutely amazing. We rented the boat from Blue Dream Rental Boats.Guest review byMichaelUnited States - 8.0

Capri is great to explore via taxi, get up early and head up to Ana Capri, less traffic more intimate area. The chair lift is a must to the top of the mountain, and lunch up top of the mountain is amazing. Capri is nice in the evenings to walk around and shop with plenty of places to get cocktails, and explore.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Beautiful place.
Beautiful place. Goes without saying it's a lot of stair climbing. Consider this if you have any mobility issues. Very touristy and busy the end of September when we met. At times it was hard to navigate the sidewalks and pathways.Guest review byPaulUnited States - 10.0

Lovely town with great resturants and the Archaeological site of Pompeii , plus 3 train stations which allowed travel to Herculaneum, Sorrento, Naples and Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. A great central location. We used the beaches at Vico Esquerence as they were a lot cleaner that those at Castlemmare Di Stabi, but we did food shopping at Lidl there and the shopping Center in Pompeii was a treat.Guest review bySarah Blewer-BurmanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Caserta is a very underrated place to visit, but it must be seen on your travels. The palace is an unbelievable place. Check out the gardens, it is close to Napoli, Sorrento, and Capri, and an ideal location to base your Holiday. Maiori is a quieter (thankfully) seaside town along the Amalfi Coast. Its perfect for exploring the whole coastline by ferry and bus. Its also very easy to visit Vietri ( think ceramics on a major scale). You can start the Path of Lemons right in Maiori ( we did) and also visit Ravello. We did the hike to Ravello ( there's a fork in the path) and it was really testing. Although you can see Ravello, its across a valley and so the hike takes you uphill, through the mountain forests and around the valley - some 8-9 kms as opposed to the easy lemon path (tough). Maiori has everything, but its not hectic like Amalfi and Positano ( you can easily escae back home) Don't hesitate to book Maiori or Minori (around the corner) both offer exceptional value when compared. Beware of accommodation up or down flights of stairs to get there, that's what many places will do to you - carrying luggage is tiresome.Guest review byHD & JL Hansen (couple)South Africa
