FAQs about hotels in Cinque Terre
Cliff-Hugging Beauty
One of Liguria’s most beautiful areas, the Cinque Terre are 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages dramatically positioned on the Mediterranean coastline.
Each has a train station, but the most exhilarating way to visit the Cinque Terre is on foot. It’s not easy at times, but is definitely rewarding. The route starts (or finishes) at Riomaggiore, the southern-most village, home to a range of accommodation including a few Cinque Terre hotels on the beach.
The easy road between here and Manarola is called the Via dell’Amore, or Lovers’ Lane. Colourful Manarola houses hug the rocky cliffs overlooking the turquoise water below. The next village along is Corniglia, the only one not by the beach, but which offers panoramic views from its hilltop position.
Next is Vernazza, arguably the most picturesque of the 5, spread over a narrow promontory jutting into the sea and with a castle tower at its tip. Still very much a fishing village, it is centred around its small harbour and beach.
The longest beach is at Monterosso al Mare, the last town on the trail. Due to its location and easy access, it is home to what are possibly the best Cinque Terre hotels for families on Booking.com. However, whichever village you choose to stay in, you can expect wonderful views and fantastic food.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 336 reviewsAbsolutely everything was spectacular. First the views - just incredible. Staff was lovely, the facilities even more beautiful than pictured. We booked one of the tents and it was even better than I hoped with clear, gorgeous views and comfortable everything. Breakfast was generous and we loved that they offered shuttle service to the train station. We also rented bikes for a day which was a great way to get around and see things.Guest review byPatrickNetherlands

Perfect area to search Cinqueterre by boat or by train - both terminals up to 8 minutes walk. We were adviced by Martina and that is way we visited Portovenere as weoll even there is no train just boat to go from LevantoGuest review byLubošCzech Republic - 10
This is an absolutely gorgeous seaside town.
This is an absolutely gorgeous seaside town. It's not big, but there are lots of restaurants, cafes, and shops, including many places to relax and enjoy a lovely view of the ocean. There is a marina where you can catch a ferry to other towns on the coast, book a sunset cruise, or rent a kayak to do your own exploring; there's also a small stone beach where you can go swimming. This is the southernmost town of the Cinque Terre region, which adjoins a park that has a number of hiking trails. It can be crowded in the summer but very much has the feeling of a small town. Keep in mind that, like all five of the towns in Cinque Terre, all of the houses are built into seaside cliffs, and to get almost anywhere you'll need to climb up and down stairs (or at least navigate steep elevation changes). There's also very limited car access; if possible, consider arriving by train, which will bring you right into the heart of town and also provides easy access to the other towns in Cinque Terre.Guest review byMorganUnited States - 10
One of the more beautiful of the five.
One of the more beautiful of the five. Lots of steps to hotels in general so pack light...small carry on and back pack or foldie bag. Less is more. Great access to trails to Monterosso and Corniglia. Lots of restaurants, shops, views and train station is close to everything. Enjoy!Guest review byEubank - 10

Great village to be based if you want to explore Cinque Terre. The train station is only a short walk from everywhere and there are various food options for breakfasts and dinners. The village itself is very cute and we could see everything in half a day.Guest review byElinaMicUnited Kingdom - 10

You will have a hard time finding a more perfect location than Casa Lella <3 The view to the sea and the boats and the hills directly outside the two big front windows, the staircase lifting you above streetlevel, the beach directly to your left and Carrefour directly to your right simply could not be any better. Inside you find everything you need and plenty of space.Guest review byErik KirstejnDenmark - 10

Picturesque, relatively small and quiet compared to the other cinque Terre towns. Centrally located so I could begin day walks in both directions. Best not to carry heavy luggage up the hill from the train station (around 380 steps) - use the bus… only 1,50 Euros but expect to wait 15-30 mins at peak time. The walks to Vernazza and on to Monterosso, and also the walk to Manarola are magnificent, just be prepared for lots of steps.Guest review byJohnAustralia - 10

It was so special to be so close to Cinque Terre region by train and then to come back to the quiet comfort of Hotel Belvedere in the afternoon. There are great opportunities to hire a bike for a few hours and ride to the neighbouring towns of Fremura and Levanto- with all straight road access- no hills involved! The only downfall is the walk up and down the hill for the hotel and town commute- it can become quite tiresome after a long day of sightseeing - but overall a wonderful unforgettable stayGuest review byRAustralia
