FAQs about hotels in Liguria
A Spectacular Sea of Colour
Although one of Italy’s smallest regions, Liguria punches well above its weight for incredible scenery. Its coastline stretching from the French border to the port of La Spezia is lined with brightly coloured houses, including those spectacularly hugging cliffs in the Cinque Terre villages.
Equally impressive is Portofino harbour, one of the most beautiful in Italy. In a country that counts Venice, Sorrento and Capri amongst its harbour towns, that’s quite some accolade. Next door Rapallo has a long promenade watched over by a castle.
Levanto’s promenade is supported by pillars on the beach below and overlooks mountains descending into the Mediterranean Sea. Portovenere at the tip of a peninsula has a Gothic church on a rocky outcrop.
The Liguria capital is Genoa, Italy’s busiest port and home to one of Europe’s largest Old Towns. Varazze to the west has a sweeping beach, as does Alassio – 2 resorts with lots of Liguria hotels on the beach on Booking.com. A fortress guards the entrance to Savona harbour, while Albenga has medieval spires and cobbled streets.
Low hills are the backdrop to Imperia’s beach and neighbouring Diano Marina is lapped by turquoise waters. When thinking of Liguria hotels, luxury springs to mind and nowhere is this truer than in exclusive Sanremo, home to an annual music festival and glamorous casino.

An absolutely fascinating city with a wealth of history and beautiful old buildings which somehow have managed to survive in a tangle of narrow streets and small squares. When you are bored with the city...very hard to be...then take the cheap, efficient train down the coast to Sestre Levante where most stops have a great beach to swim from.Guest review byPhilipUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Travelling from Rome, we made La Spezia our base to launch into the Cinque Terre. Fiume269 was just 10-min walk away from the main train station to travel to the 5 towns. Buses from near our stay take you easily to La Spezia's main attractions.Guest review byRobin GomesItaly - 10.0

Beautiful traditional Italian seaside town with plenty of interesting things to visit. La Pigna (the old town) is an interesting climb through small alleyways and gates. The Russian Orthodox church is small but perfectly formed. Villa Nobel is an interesting science museum & a beautiful villa to see from the outside. There is a 30km cycle and walking track running along the seafront, an old converted train track with plenty of cycle hire places along the way. Plenty of nice places nearby if you have a hire car. Steer clear of the Casino - it's tacky and full of slot machines.Guest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Best beaches to access in Cinque Terre
Best beaches to access in Cinque Terre Great selection of restaurants and food outlets for all budgets. Train station has easy access and central to the town. Access between the two areas is flat and a lovely walk. We walked between Monterosso and Vernazza - it is very steep and not an easy walk but I am so proud of myself doing it. Views are amazing. Easier on knees doing it this direction. Not so much going down hill.Guest review byFionaAustralia - 10.0

I loved hiking fron Riomaggiore to Manarola!
I loved hiking fron Riomaggiore to Manarola! Via Beccara hike was a climb killer, but i loved it! Seafood was fresh! And water activities were fun, a bit chilly to be in the water in October, but it was still fun! Just make sure you are in mid-day and you have a change of clothes on the boat, or you’ll freeze!Guest review byRaquelUnited States - 8.0

The city center is nice, there are good restaurants but every of them takes fee for sitting at the table - from 2 to 4 euros even to drink one cocktail. Beaches are not very good in Rapallo, you need to go somewhere further for good sea. We went on the beaches after San-Margarita, it is better drive there or go by bus.Guest review byElena - 8.0
Nice town with much to do in town and nearby.
Nice town with much to do in town and nearby. Go to Rapallo by train and take the aerial tram to see the church and eat at the restaurant with the most beautiful terrace about 200 yards through the trees on a path of enlightenment. Go have a drink by the castle for a lively scene and view.Guest review byCurtisUnited States - 10.0
