FAQs about hotels in Sicily
An Island of Intrigue
The largest Italian island, Sicily has long been a place of mystery and intrigue, coveted by civilisations. Its Greek history is most evident at Agrigento whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples has amazingly well-preserved Greek temples.
Also important to Greece was Siracusa. Archimedes was born here and there is a theatre and necropolis to explore. However, the most spectacularly located Greek theatre is at Taormina. Set on a hill overlooking the glorious Mediterranean Sea, this theatre points towards Mount Etna smoking away in the distance above Catania. Picturesque Taormina is one of the most popular Sicily resorts and down below there are some wonderful Giardini Naxos hotels on the beach, available on Booking.com.
Another resort boasting some of the best Sicily hotels for families is fabulous Cefalù. Home to a lovely beach, this small town is dramatically located at the foot of a mountain. To the north-west are the Aeolian Islands (also known as the Lipari Islands), volcanic islands with plunging cliffs and secret coves.
Back on the main island, the capital Palermo is a seductive mix of amazing architecture and laidback life. Trapani to the west is known for its salt flats, whereas Messina to the east is where trains drive straight onto the ferry to Reggio Calabria on the Italian mainland.

- From US$192.29 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 515 reviewsIncredible stay! The staff made us feel welcomed and like family, they went above and beyond to cater to our every need. The facilities were impeccable and the thermal pools took away all our stress. The food was fresh, delicious and healthy. The pizza was actually the best we've had in Sicily, we have been travelling around the island so this is a big claim to make! The only problem is we didn't want to leave the accommodation to explore the surrounding area! Internet was great and we were able to get work done.Guest review byAchillesAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 2,182 reviewsEverything was perfect! Small but beautiful beach, the pool area is really good with amazing view. So you can choose between pool and beach, both are very good. The rooms are large, spacy and very comfortable, with balconies facing sea and beatiful view to Etna and Isola Bella. There is big TV, coffee machine. I especially liked separate wardrobe room, which is spacy enough, lots of mirrors. The shuttle bus to city center is very comfortable.Guest review byJurgitaLithuania

Walkable city with amazing architecture.
Walkable city with amazing architecture. It is very chaotic and busy in a good way.we enjoyed the large market near the lodging. Very important to us was the closeness of the bus terminal and the train station.Guest review byAlbertUnited States - 8.0
Catania is a very pretty alive town.
Catania is a very pretty alive town. The city center is easy to walk, with lots of monuments ,interesting Catholic churches to visit, countless places with excellent food, not to mention the coffee stores and the sweets! Walk around and get lost in the small streets around, to discover quiet cute coffee/food stores. At the main street (via Etnea) you will find among others, plenty of stores of famous brands for shopping. People are nice and gentle. We felt safe at all the places we visited. Please note that Catania is stated in the middle of the East cost line, so you can use the train or the bus and easily visit Syracuse or Taormina (both strongly suggested). We visited on October 2025 so we can't give any advise for the beaches. PS If the mayor or the state decide to invest money and make a good renovation of the buildings, then city center would be really fantastic.Guest review byFEVRONIAGreece - 10
My rating is for the island of ortigia in Siracusa.
My rating is for the island of ortigia in Siracusa. I visited one night and one afternoon, stayed at a hotel 10 min drive from Ortigia that had free parking since we had a car which was good because we did a day trip to Noto and Modica. Oritigia was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by water, beautiful buildings and architecture, great shops and restaurants and they had nice fountains, old ruins and the castle. A MUST SEE when you are in Sicily.Guest review byJenniferCanada - 10

Taormina is very well know, and one of the most beautiful places in the world that I know. The ability to see both Mount Etna, and the Straits of Messina, from virtually the same spot(s) at places in town make it breathtaking. Reviews will fill you in on all of the attractions and ,of course, the superb choice of restaurants and foods.Guest review byJamesUnited States - 10

CEFALU IS VISUALLY STUNNING - BUT VERY BUSY EVEN IN OCTOBER. THE TOWN IS VERY CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR. SOME STREETS IN THE OLD TOWN HAVE BECOME TOO TOURISTY WITH TOO MANY GIFT SHOPS. BUT I WOULD STILL GO BACK.Guest review byMartinUnited Kingdom - 10

Agrigento offers so much more than the Valley of the Temples. It is a beautiful city with stairway alleys, beautiful buildings, and a love of culture. Highly recommend that you reserve a few hours for the city once you’ve covered the incredible ruins.Guest review byKarstensUnited States - 6.0
Trapani was a bit of a disappointment.
Trapani was a bit of a disappointment. Especially if you're trying to compare it to Noto, Ragusa, and Modica, for example. That comparison isn't really possible/shouldn't be made. If you're coming from Agrigento, continue on to Castellammare del Golfo. And on the way there, be sure to visit Erice. It's truly beautiful little place on a mountain. And the views are stunning, too.Guest review byBNetherlands - 10
A beautiful spot to explore, steeped in history.
A beautiful spot to explore, steeped in history. Ragusa is a great location to explore the surrounding area. We loved walking the winding streets of Ragusa Ibla. The churches were wonderful to wander inside. We had a wonderful meal at Bar Degli Archi opposite the church of Purgatory.Guest review byStephen TriscariAustralia - 10
Giardini is literally a 10 minutes bus ride from Taormina.
Giardini is literally a 10 minutes bus ride from Taormina. Much more accessible to get around and a lot less expensive. It offers many dining options, beach (which Taormina doesn't), shopping and larger accommodations.Guest review byMariaUnited States - 10
Beautiful town, full of life at night.
Beautiful town, full of life at night. Easily walkable, flat streets. Beach is nice and long, with multiple free areas. It's a gorgeous scene with the huge mountains, and lighthouse at the other end. It is definitely more of a touristy feel, as we went in August. Definitely explore up and down the peninsula, as there's excellent beaches and coves to swim at as well!Guest review byAnonymous
