Trapani is a small city which deserves exploring and getting to know. Lots of hidden gems and beautiful sights. The Museum of Optical Illusions is great. Trapani is a good base for exploring the area by car or public transport. Lots to enjoy, from walking along the beach or simply relaxing in one of the many sunbeds available (for a fair price), to boat rents or boat trips to other locations nearby. Without knowing about it, we arrived in the last days of the Cous Cous feast, which was a great surprise. We enjoyed Ragusa a great deal. Ragusa Superiore, where the hotel is located, was easy to approach by car, which was useful for us and situated across from the street from an impressive cathedral. We enjoyed the walks down to Ragusa Ibla, where we spent two afternoons wandering the narrow streets, enjoying the sites, and were able to take a public bus back up to Ragusa Superiore with little trouble. Staying in the upper part of Ragusa allowed us to experience both parts of this small city. Both parts of Ragusa come alive in the evening when shops re-open, and people head out to dinner.
