There were no complications due to, I believe, staffwho sent me dozen of messages via email and texzs with detailed info regarding our arrival, what to do if we dont arrive in working hours etc. They provided us with emergency number and when I called they immediately answered and the problem was resolved. The place is actually in a building, typical hotelish look, entrance is by the street, it has small elevator and I think 6 floors. The apartment is gorgeous, very spacious for 1 bedroom, it has all it has to have including clean towels, sheets... I requested kids bed and got it for free - it was all prepared for us already inside. The kids bed is secure and really excellent quality. King bed is really huge. They dont have parking but I booked online covered parking cca 8 mins away from hotel which was no issue cause we prepared to go only with backpacks to hotel. Everything was amazing. The host gave detailed instructions on picking up the keys and getting to the parking. With the apartment you get free parking in the garage and beach access with sun beds. Went on the tourist tram up to Via Stradicana / Napoleonica.
Went on the tourist tram up to Via Stradicana / Napoleonica. Get off at Obelisk stop not end at Opicina. Tram is a little hairy especially just after the start when they add a second engine; also crowded. There is also the 64 bus right nearby if you think might be queasy. Central Trieste has been thoroughly refurbished during Covid and looks like a set from Studio Ghibli. The old town is buzzing with bars and restaurants. I wish we had more time to explore the area. We found a cute part of town with an amazing restaurant. We plan on going back to Trieste next year and would stay there again. The only issue we had with the unit was the area is a little run down, and the TV is very old and will not support streaming. We liked Muggia.
We liked Muggia. It is small and easy to navigate the old town. The main Piazza has several bars and cafes, friendly and welcoming for a drink or a meal, and fun for people watching. There are more cafes and bars towards the waterfront. Just stroll around and enjoy the relative tranquility. We arrived in Trieste by train, taxi to Muggia was around 35 euros. We took a day trip back to Trieste by ferry (fun in itself), and did lots of walking from Muggia. It's a nice respite from the tourist circuit, and so pretty with stone buildings and small alleyways, plus the castle (exterior) and Duomo to enjoy. The village itself has not much to offer (in terms of sightseeing), but for me as a base for exploring the karst by bike it was perfect.
