This was an amazing few nights stay for us. The resort is fabulous, located by the beach, little chalets are between pines trees. The chalet we had was perfect for our family of 5. There is plenty to do for the kids. Pools were very busy but we didn’t mind as the beach and sea was what we preferred. Our son was the only speaking child in the kids club ( this was. A group for 10 year olds) but the person looking after the group (Abdullah) made sure that our boys felt included and had a great time. The Italian boys were also very welcoming and super kind and so my son had a very good time. We loved the evening entertainment. Food was a bit meh, for Italian beautiful food standards but it was fresh and overall ok for few days (I am not sure I would be happy if we stayed over the week 😀 the cook really needs to learn how to make scrambled eggs. But the omlettes were good). The little shop on the facilities was just great for daily groceries. Overal amazing!

It’s very cute and quaint with a variety of camping types (personal tents and campers but also rentable mobile homes and tent houses). I love that there is not auto traffic though the campground which makes it quiet and safe for walking. The mobile home we rented was clean and comfortable. All linens were included which was appreciated as we were traveling by bike. The beach was really nice and the water was very shallow for a long ways out.

The area of the village is very comfortable. Lots of shade, which allows you to stay cool even on the hottest days. Nice little house/tent with everything you need (kitchen, shower, air conditioning and a wide terrace) Good sandy beach was close to our house - just 1 minute to the sea. Free canoes and paddle boards on the beach Nice seafood restaurant + pizza and ice-cream for kids directly on the beach.

Impeccably run campsite on beach in remote, non-touristy area. We admired the design of our 5 person lodge tent, with 2 BR and BA, full kitchen and deck. Great private restaurant on grounds and a store, very quiet, friendly. The area seemed safe since no one locked up their bikes except electric bikes. Good compact design of site, not too far to walk to the beach.

    It's actually magic.

It's actually magic. It has the most unique identity, everywhere you go has its own little quirks. Every corner you turn you see something phenomenal. Best place I've ever been. I'll be going back there is so much left to do. The service was incredible, we were treated with so much care I couldn't think what I had done to deserve it. The art and culture is second to none. Everyone warned me that I'd miss out on the food as a vegan but I was spoilt for choice. I didn't even get to visit the (many!!!) vegan restaurants, then there are all of the veggie restaurants, then there are the normal (but amazing) Italian restaurants that cater well to vegans. I've never been anywhere with so many options, all of them were outstanding.

I flew to Pisa to trek through the Cinque Terre.

I flew to Pisa to trek through the Cinque Terre. The city is home to more than just the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. It also boasts numerous monuments to prominent Italians and beautiful ancient architecture. In the city, you can buy groceries at supermarkets or visit a café to sample traditional Tuscan cuisine, drink delicious coffee, and sample desserts. I ate at the café "Bar & Food 62." Tuscan soup was 12 euros, baked eggplant with Parmesan was 12 euros, and a glass of white wine was 6 euros.

Siena is full of wonderful architecture, art and places to enjoy BUT for anyone interested in the early Sienese painting of Duccio et al NB the Pinacoteca Nazionale has closed the entire floor of early paintings for the foreseeable future for upgrading the eco standards etc from August 2025. A major gap!

Was not impressed with the city and expected more given all the review I read online. My disapointment could be due to the fact I visited in February, so off season. I booked two nights but decided to only stay for one and left early. Even though I booked a room in the central part of the city I did not feel safe walking the streets at night.

Arriving at night, this hilltop town with Renaissance...

Arriving at night, this hilltop town with Renaissance architecture was a bit daunting to navigate with our suitcases due to very steep hills but it was well marked and there are different entrances to the city where one can park. We are so glad that we had two days to explore this medieval city for the more we became familiar with the streets, the more we felt we were stepping back in time. One can see why this location was used for the Twilight Saga series! It had an eeriness about it, especially at night, with steep alleyways cascading down to the streets below. But that eeriness also lent itself to being a romantic, mysterious city, with absolutely breathtaking views of the the surrounding countryside and unparalleled views of the Valdichiana and Val d'Orcia Visiting the Torture Museum left me extremely glad that I did not live during medieval times, but the Museo Civic is a must see, and The Porta el Plato has great shops. I absolutely recommend visiting Montepulciano!

We loved Arezzo so much we decided to buy a home and retire here! City has it all - train directly into town, flat walkable and pedestrian friendly city with more delicious restaurants than one could ever try in a lifetime. Nice park with a view and amenities adjacent to Duomo and plenty of shopping - this is a city where people live and tourists tend to visit on famous Antique Market weekend so you get a sense of what it's like to actually live in an Italian town - hours of operation for shops and restaurants are Italian vs tourist, people are friendly and it's a safe city without the stress of pick pockets or crowds - most people miss Arezzo; don't be one of them!

    A very attractive town.

A very attractive town. The beaches are superb, but unless you head out of town you need to go into a beach club. There are no free access beaches in town. Some hotels have an arrangement with a beach club for free or discounted access for guests, so it is worth checking this if you intend to use the beaches. It can cost typically EUR30-40 for 2 chairs, a sunbed and an umbrella. They don't offer reduced rates until 3-4pm. That will add up after a few days. The restaurants are OK but nothing special. Most of them serve the same food, which can get boring. We ate in our hotel restaurant more than we usually would, but the quality and variety of food on offer was better than any outside restaurant we tried. Apart from the beach, shops and walking up and down the promenade, there is not much to actually do in Viarregio, so you may want to get out on some day trips. Pisa and Luca are accessible by train, although we found them both to be disappointing (especially Luca - what a dump!). We found the train service a bit hit and miss, although it is cheap. Consider hiring a car if you plan to get out of Viareggio. If you pick up and drop off at the airport, it will also be useful for airport transfers.

A good base if your a bit more adventurous and don't mind travelling by train. For example Pisa and Florence are both reachable by train but include changing trains at various places. Montecatini itself is a little run down in places with all the spa buildings closed. A nice little town square where a few bars can be found. Montecatini Alto is a gem reached by a funicular railway and Lucca (40 mins by train) is well worth a visit.
