- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 88 reviewsIl Poggio is heavenly. The houses are beautifully scattered across the huge property, each with a space outside to enjoy the stunning nature. The owners are kind, friendly and so thoughtful. The four of us (we have 2 girls) loved spending days there without the need to leave elsewhere at all. We played basketball, bocce, tennis, used the swimming pool every single day. The highlight was the view from the window, all the vinyards & the sunsets. Our girls asked if we could live there forever. It was the most relaxing, soul-enriching holiday. The owners welcomed us with wine, coffee, pasta. What a nice touch that we did not have to look for food after arriving. The coffee moka meant so much to a big coffee drinker like me. We saw beautiful nearby Tuscan towns & found brilliant local restaurants nearby & also had a beautiful dinner at il Poggio one evening. Bruna, the kindest, friendliest local dog, made my daughters’ stay unforgettable. We are definitely coming back.Guest review byZUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 300 reviewsWe stayed at the hotel in April 2025 as four families with children, and we had a fantastic experience. The family rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped, with everything we needed for our stay. The garden area was lovely, with chairs, sun loungers, and tables that allowed us to enjoy lunch or dinner outdoors, in the fresh air and with stunning views of vineyards and forests. The kids played freely and safely on the grass while we relaxed nearby. Reception service was excellent—every request was answered quickly and with genuine care. Breakfast was rich, varied, and delicious. The pool area was clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully designed. Each group of rooms had its own pool and kids' pool, giving us full privacy throughout our stay. It was a perfect vacation, and we wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to families and anyone looking for peace, comfort, and beautiful surroundings. ---Guest review byShoshanaIsrael

San Gimignano is a medieval town which is very popular with Italian tourists as well as other EU/US visitors. It's like stepping back in time as everywhere is so original and dripping with age. There are plenty of shops selling quality foods, ceramics, fabrics, art, bakeries and even a potter who will make a pot in front of your eyes - in fact everything you can think of! Plenty of nice restaurants from simple pizzerias to Michelin starred will cater for every taste and budget. There are a number of old towers you can climb which will give you a wonderful birds eye view of the surrounding Tuscan countryside, but if you don't want to climb then a leisurely stroll around the ancient streets is a cultural treat.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I have been to Tuscany more times than I can count.
I have been to Tuscany more times than I can count. This is my first time stopping in and staying in Colle di Val d'Elsa. The location is very close to all the major sites in Tuscany. Volterra and San Gimignano are extremely closeby as well as Chianti. There is a charm to the old town area of Colle di Val d'Elsa, not a ton of tourists like the other sites in the area.Guest review byD. CaronanItaly - 8.0
The apartement was even nicer than pictures.
The apartement was even nicer than pictures. There was oil and a bit of vinegar as well as salt and pepper. It would have been nice to have a few more amenities. The pool looked really nice but we did not have time to take advantage of it. Check in was easy even though we arrived very late at night. Same for the check out.Guest review byPatriciaCanada - 10.0

Fantastic little town with tonnes of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The museum ticket is great value as it gets you into lots of the historic sights. We enjoyed the weaponry exhibit as you were allowed to hold and try on the different artefacts which was cool! We parked nearby and paid with card on exit (only line up at the ticket machine if you’re paying cash). The onsite wine shop (connected to the popular winery near by) was delicious too. Would definitely recommend this town for people to visit and dine at!Guest review byLyndalAustralia - 10.0

Cute little spot, we only stayed there for one evening on our way down to Val D'Orcia from Pisa Airport. The town itself is lovely, we came on a Thursday evening and wandered into the village for a pizza at Happy Days which was great and so tasty, the staff were also lovely. There was also some great karaoke going on at one of the bars which seemed to be locals and some tourists enjoying their evening. It was lovely! Definitely recommend visiting here, there seemed to be lots more lovely restaurants too.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

We used Empoli as a base as the train station offered many possibilities as a central hub. We did however really enjoy a lovely walk in the scenic hills. The center was clean and had a really nice vibe to it and the locals were very friendly. We were also told by a historian that the city had a good museum of art although we didn't have time to investigate further unfortunately due to time.Guest review byBarker - 10.0
