This place was fabulous. What an incredible and enriching experience. We were walking the Via Francigena and over stayed at the hot springs nearby. The owner came to get us and delivered us to our beautiful accomodations. A gated property on the countryside with beautiful views. Just at the bottom of Radicofani which as a side note is a gorgeous town. The property was an old refurbished farm that preserved its authenticity but added comfort and class. Everything was clean and beautiful. The rich history and exceptional service made this truly unique. The food was so farm fresh and made in house. My gluten free needs were not only met with such care but went beyond anything I could have dreamed of. Breakfast was beyond my imagination. Our bed was extremely comfortable and our in room fireplace was ready to go with one match. The bathroom was stunning and the tub was heaven after our 225km journey on foot. This place was the perfect spot to end our Tuscany tour. Simply the best!

We had a wonderful stay at Le Ragnaie! The staff were absolutely lovely—warm, welcoming, and always helpful. Our accommodation was very comfortable, spotless, and tastefully appointed, making it a perfect retreat after exploring the area. The location is ideal, just a short distance from Montalcino, with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside that made every moment feel special. The included breakfast was excellent, with a delicious variety of fresh, high-quality options. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the region!

Arriving at night, this hilltop town with Renaissance...

Arriving at night, this hilltop town with Renaissance architecture was a bit daunting to navigate with our suitcases due to very steep hills but it was well marked and there are different entrances to the city where one can park. We are so glad that we had two days to explore this medieval city for the more we became familiar with the streets, the more we felt we were stepping back in time. One can see why this location was used for the Twilight Saga series! It had an eeriness about it, especially at night, with steep alleyways cascading down to the streets below. But that eeriness also lent itself to being a romantic, mysterious city, with absolutely breathtaking views of the the surrounding countryside and unparalleled views of the Valdichiana and Val d'Orcia Visiting the Torture Museum left me extremely glad that I did not live during medieval times, but the Museo Civic is a must see, and The Porta el Plato has great shops. I absolutely recommend visiting Montepulciano!

Monticchiello is a great hill top village to stay overnight when travelling through Tuscany. Beautifully quiet in the evening but with a number of restaurants to choose from to suit all tastes. Absolutely LOVE Montepulciano; I have spent extended time here and brought a friend for 2 nights which she thought was perfect. Allowed enough time to see the town, enjoy long meals and leisurely walks to see everything and do some shopping while not having to rush - views are spectacular and people are all so nice and most have enough English to adequately communicate if you don't know any Italian. Wine is fantastic everywhere and it's not priced like a tourist town - prefer it to San Gimignano, Cortona, Orvieto, Todi and Assisi if you only have time to do one (they are all worth visiting though!). Train to Chiusi then bus straight into town if you don't want to rent a car - super simple & reliable schedule but there is free parking and plenty of paid lots if you do rent a car. Also centrally located with, easy visits to several smaller towns like Pienza, and Lucignano if you do have a car and want to extend your stay in same property.
