This hotel was amazing and exceeded our expectations! The staff was so friendly and helpful. They even upgraded our room for free because they didn't think the space was enough for two adults and our son. They also gave our son a kid bag which included kid size slippers and goodies. He felt very special. The hotel and rooms were extremely clean and nice. Of course, the room was small but that's to be expected and the space was used very efficiently. The breakfast was excellent and offered a good variety of food for veg and non-veg. To add our son's breakfast was only 1000 yen which was very reasonable. The hotel was conveniently located within about a 10 minute walk from the train station. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    This was a wonderful hotel and I would go back in a flash. It is right on the beach. We were there in February so the pool was closed but the onsen was open. Went there in the morning and last thing in the evening. The rooms are nice and big. Try and get a seaside facing room to enjoy the beach and the rising sun. The staff were friendly. All in all a great experience. Also there is a free shuttle bus to Kawazu town but there is also a train station near the hotel.

    Somewhat older property but in a stunning location and well-maintained. One negative, - access to the onsen lacks elevators and requires climbing stairs. The onsen itself is again a little dated but the location and views of the beach more than makes up for this. Our room service was superb - everything one can wish for in a onsen-ryokan experience. There is a free shuttle service to the Shimoda train station.

    It’s clean, very well equipped with heater, cooking utensils. The owners are so nice and friendly. Language may be a barrier but they tried really hard to accommodate all our needs. The place is slightly secluded which is perfect for quiet vacation but you can still go to town centre by just taking 1 train to Karuizawa station and the owners are nice enough to drop and pick you!

    Amazing View - Direct view of Mt Fuji at the front door. The property is huge and plenty of space for my kid and my friend's kid to run around. The Location is quite remote, around 10 10-minute drive to the nearby town. There is no convenient shops or food stores nearby. The nearest Family Mart is an 18-minute walk away.

    Kanazawa is a very interesting place to visit.

    Kanazawa is a very interesting place to visit. It has a similar charm as Kyoto, but with fewer crowds. We found it easy to get around the city by bus or on foot. We had 2 days here but could have stayed for 4 days or more.

    Great visits possible in this area - the Ropeway (cable car)...

    Great visits possible in this area - the Ropeway (cable car) up into the alps, the Onsen, Hida Village was superb and had loads of additional activities for children, and Takayama was a complete surprise with is bijou shops in the beautiful old quarter. There seemed to be plenty more to do including museums etc.

    We were able to take great pictures of Mt Fuji from our window. The onsen and buffet was great. The price was affordable for a group of 8 with free breakfast and dinner. The room was clean and Yukata was included. Highly recommended

    We really liked Matsumoto and it was a much more fun and interesting city than we expected. We had an overnight stay, largely to visit the famous castle, after visiting Kiso valley. Would happily have stayed longer.

    I've been extremely lucky, I was in Niigata after a snowstorm and I found an amazing scenery of beaches under a white carpet. The fisherman market is an experience you should not miss, delicious food and crazy cheap bill. Try to drive the coastline!

    Shizuoka is a hidden gem.

    Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.

    People there are very helpful and courteous. It is very clean, and uncongested. Quiet and peaceful, unlike the other cities. I highkt recommend pairing Toyama and Tetayama, i.e. 3 and 2 nights respectively . Simply amazing.

    Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us. Easy to get to from Osaka. Stayed in a traditional ryokan (tattoo friendly). Spent the day walking along the harbour to the ropeway up to Atami castle which had several different art displays and museums including an adults only one and a great view of the coast. Away from the beach things were pretty steep so a car might have been a sensible option
