We loved the warm community space set up with games and books in the hotel lobby. The 24 hour lounge with food and coffee was icing on the cake. The complimentary refillable water bottles, bikes, umbrellas and coin laundry were great amenities to have.

Excellent hotel in the middle of Kyoto. The hotel is new, just opened, very beautiful, great style, combining modern and classic japanese style Rooms are very big (!!!), very wide, a lot of space next to beds, size that is not common even for Europe, letalone for Japan (we had a room for three). Price is also very very good. Personnel super profy, the whole place has a super cool vibe. We also stayed in Kyoto at another hotel, at the same price, and they don't even begin to compare. Also very close (10 min walk or less) to Teramachi shopping street, and Nishiki market.

Breakfast was more than adequate & very nice. Good choices between continental & Japanese breakfast. In addition, we were offered eggs, salmon and or meat choices. The breakfast room was nicely decorated & bright to make a cheerful start to our day. All the staff were very hospitable & helpful, especially Sayuri - who spoke very good English. My family's special thanks to her! The entire property, without exception, was spotlessly clean & pleasant smelling. Above all, I must say that Mr. Kosei Kawasaki, the Duty Manager on that rainy morning did everything in his power to get us a big cab for the station and personally helped load the cab with our 6 pieces of luggage in the heavy rain. My special thanks to Mr. Kosei Kawasaki

    Excellent location, excellent room and above all, very practical. I loved how everything in the room seemed to make sense. There was no wasted space and I adored the traditional touches. The service was impeccable and we were helped with a taxi on our way back as well. The breakfast was simple but good enough as a boost of energy. We walked a lot since it was very close to a lot of the touristy places and close to great restaurants and bars. The bus stops and subway stations are close as well so it's a great place to be. I used the Cypress wood bathtub every night and it was great after a long day of walking. The L'occitane travel toiletries was another excellent added touch as was the coffee maker in the room.

    The hotel has a unique vibe and cute and stylish rooms. The staff was kind, helpful, welcoming and professional. The location was very convenient - a very short walk from the smaller, Kujo station, whilst still within very reasonable walking distance from the Kyoto main station. The stay had all the necessary amenities with even good quality face care products provided in the room! The breakfast was also a very nice and convenient option. The open bar and the ice cream were the true cherries on top! The possibility to receive and send luggage through the luggage forwarding service added to a convenient travel experience. Would definitely stay there again.

    The location was everything!! It's walkable to many major tourist spots like Kiyomizu-dera. Also good for those who wants to get pictures with the Hokan-ji pagoda in the early morning without anyone. The room was cute and have everything you need for your stay. Plus the staffs were so super friendly, helpful and good in English. I will definitely choose this hotel again for the next visit in Kyoto.

    Arashiyama (Bamboo Grove) - Go in the afternoon, its not as crowded Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple - a bit of a challenge to get here but was worth the challenge and was refreshing to get away from the city. Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pravillion) - A must for anyone going to Kyoto but be prepared for crowds at any time. Saryo Tsujiri Tea House - go here but leave time to line up and dine in. We had to do take away and was a little sad about this. Wander around the main streets of Kawaramachi Station and Gion on a Friday or Saturday night and along Kamon River. See people enjoying their evening, buskers and the night life. Unimpressed by Pontoncho Alley both during the day and night. There are better things to check out.

    Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.

    Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.

    Kyoto is a lovely place to visit, however it is very crowded. We found the 3 different train services, difficult to understand. We tended to use the JR local train network as it was easier for us to locate the stations near where we wanted to visit. We also found the buses a good way to travel around the city.

    I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.

    I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was perfect - close to town but not in town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Close to the train station as well. I will certainly stay here on my next trip to Kyoto.

    Nishiki market is fantastic albeit a bit busy.

    Nishiki market is fantastic albeit a bit busy. Recommend getting food there during the afternoon for snacks. TeamLABS is incredible - well worth a visit! Visit as many temples as you can. Gion district and philosophers path is a good full days walk but good fun for those that like wandering. Fushimi inari taisha must be visited outside of hours. We went at 3pm thinking it would start to quieten down and it absolutely didn’t. However, if you don’t mind the steps it very quiet at the top! Always book food in advance - we forgot to book a restaurant on the last night and it was a bit of a struggle (we were quite tired though). Take advantage of Kyoto day travel pass - we only noticed this on the last evening having spent most of the time on public transport! Arashiyama Bamboo forest isn’t really worth it - it’s quite short and only worth seeing if you get there very early. The gardens around arashiyama are very nice though.
