- From $672.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 3,892 reviewsThe location is good, the lobby has a relaxed atmosphere, and the Gion Festival music is really understated and elegant. The staff at both check-in and check-out were quick to work and friendly. The room was clean and the bed was my preferred firmness for a good night's sleep. Bottles of drinking water were also provided, which was helpful. The reception staff at the breakfast room was also sophisticated and helpful. I believe there were several breakfast items that were probably home-cooked Kyoto food. They were a little sweet for me, but I enjoyed the Kyoto flavor. I think that many people would probably find a hotel in Shijo more convenient than Kyoto Station, depending on their destination, but since I was attending a conference near Kyoto Station, it was the best option for me.Guest review byMiyukiSouth Korea
- From $202.06 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 1,834 reviewsThe best location! In front of Yasaka Shrine, walking distance Ninenzaka, Senenzaka, Kiyomuduzera, Nishiki Market and a lot more. 1 train to Fushima Inari, 1 bus to philosophers path. We watched the sunset at the nearby river while drinking coffee, had walked throught the streets of Gion at night, walked through temples in the morning. Starbucks at 1st floor and outside is full of japanese street foods. Good hotel breakfast, the rooms were clean and big enough, good ammenities. Loved my stay here for 5days in Kyoto.Guest review byRoxanneSingapore
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 586 reviewsWe loved the aesthetic of the hotel. It had a vintage, rustic, steam punk, and artsy kind of vibe. We had a gorgeous view of the Yasakanoto pagoda right outside our balcony on the 3rd floor. The view from the rooftop was beautiful. All the little details gave the hotel a lot of character. And yes, the room was spacious and the beds were super comfy.Guest review byDaryl JayGuam

Arashiyama (Bamboo Grove) - Go in the afternoon, its not as crowded Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple - a bit of a challenge to get here but was worth the challenge and was refreshing to get away from the city. Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pravillion) - A must for anyone going to Kyoto but be prepared for crowds at any time. Saryo Tsujiri Tea House - go here but leave time to line up and dine in. We had to do take away and was a little sad about this. Wander around the main streets of Kawaramachi Station and Gion on a Friday or Saturday night and along Kamon River. See people enjoying their evening, buskers and the night life. Unimpressed by Pontoncho Alley both during the day and night. There are better things to check out.Guest review byJessicaAustralia - 10.0

Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.Guest review byAmyCanada - 8.0
The staff was awesome!
The staff was awesome! They did everything in their power to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Room is extremely small by US standards! Room could use a microwave, the only one available was on the ground floor and I was on the 7th.Guest review byMarkGermany - 10.0

Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.Guest review byDeepuJapan - 10.0

Gionmachi is a wonderful section of Kyoto and offers much to see and experience. It is easy, maybe 15 to 20 minutes taxi to other areas of Kyoto that are also beautiful, historical and traditional. Overall, this is a place I would come back to because I have much more to see.Guest review byAlanUnited States - 8.0

Kyoto is a lovely place to visit, however it is very crowded. We found the 3 different train services, difficult to understand. We tended to use the JR local train network as it was easier for us to locate the stations near where we wanted to visit. We also found the buses a good way to travel around the city.Guest review byElaineAustralia - 10.0
I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas.
I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.Guest review byeltopoJapan - 10.0
I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding.
I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was perfect - close to town but not in town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Close to the train station as well. I will certainly stay here on my next trip to Kyoto.Guest review byCatherineUnited States - 10.0
Nishiki market is fantastic albeit a bit busy.
Nishiki market is fantastic albeit a bit busy. Recommend getting food there during the afternoon for snacks. TeamLABS is incredible - well worth a visit! Visit as many temples as you can. Gion district and philosophers path is a good full days walk but good fun for those that like wandering. Fushimi inari taisha must be visited outside of hours. We went at 3pm thinking it would start to quieten down and it absolutely didn’t. However, if you don’t mind the steps it very quiet at the top! Always book food in advance - we forgot to book a restaurant on the last night and it was a bit of a struggle (we were quite tired though). Take advantage of Kyoto day travel pass - we only noticed this on the last evening having spent most of the time on public transport! Arashiyama Bamboo forest isn’t really worth it - it’s quite short and only worth seeing if you get there very early. The gardens around arashiyama are very nice though.Guest review byNicholas
