Everything about this hotel from start to finish was wonderful. I arrived right at 3pm for check-in. The staff was welcoming. I put my shoes in the shoe locker and walked on tatami mats throughout the hotel in the Japanese socks they provided. My room was absolutely spotless, well-equipped with standard Japanese hotel room items and included a towel rack which was helpful after going to the onsens and it also had a great view. I put on my loungewear and headed to the onsens. Both group and 7 private onsens were varied with open-air and white water and different sizes. A few massage chairs were also available and free snacks were provided throughout the day. The location of this hotel is perfect. It's a two-minute walk from Beppu train station. There were plenty of cute restaurants, shops, bars, convenience stores and even a movie theatre in the immediate area. My bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The next morning was an incredible breakfast buffet. There was an unbelievable variety it was delicious. The hotel appears to be new. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here if you are coming to Beppu. Location, cleanliness, delicious food, lovely onsens, and comfortable bed. Everything was fabulous. I would gladly stay there again.

Literally right around the corner from the spectacles bridge! Received a code to enter the foyer and complete check in. Useful as we arrived late after a big travel day. This is just a superb, outstanding hotel in a superb natural environment. 1. A fantastic location: one side faces (50 m from) the sea, on opposite side, a nice pine forest. Quiet location, but close to the town and to a railway station. The beach is of sand, long and wide with a few people on it. 2. The rooms are very large and well equipped, with fully opened view of the sea. Every tiny detail was well thought; everything you may think of was provided, including indoor closes. And every corner is perfectly cleaned. 3. Polite, friendly and quickly responsive staff. 4. Interesting and reach, mainly Japanese, kitchen. Overall, I was surprised to get this exceptionally good service and conditions for the relatively small money I paid. This hotel unlikely is for those who likes entertainment, noisy bars and disco. Just for relaxing in Paradise!

Mt. Inasayama is a major tourist attraction in Nagasaki. The hotel is located on the mountain and offers a grand view of Nagasaki Harbor and wharf especially at night. The staff are great, helpful and very polite. The facilities offer gorgeous views, several large baths (not onsen hot springs, but similar) a couple restaurant choices and a bar. Of course all the usual amenities are available. It's not the most modern hotel, but that's what gives it character. It was a fantastic choice for our last night in Nagasaki on this trip. We really enjoyed our stay and would book it again.

An unexpected highlight of my vacation. After a long day of hikes around the Ebino Plateau I was really looking forward to this hotel, and it exceeded my expectations by far. I was greeted by a cordial receptionist who graciously took my luggage and gave a tour of the facilities. The large onsen baths here are amazing and it's great to be able to try so many different baths in a single facility. Dinner was nothing short of exquisite and was very filling--not to mention, the breakfast buffet was amazing! I really wished I had stayed longer here.

I love the location of the Ryokan. It was towards the edge of the town, next to the river. We booked a private onsen room which was apparently separated from the main building but it's only about 50 ft away and made for a more relaxing experience. Food was excellent and staff was very helpful. Public and private onsen were both very nice.

I spent most of time visiting other parts of Kyushu ie Saga Prefecture, Kumomoto Prefecture and Kagoshima, Munakata and Oshima Island. For my next trip will spend more time in Fukuoka. I took a bus tour to have a view of the city. The first half was interesting, going over the famous bridge and seeing the waterfront. But the second half was boring. Just looking at traffic.

It's a spa town with a lot of history and a very energetic red-light district. Lots of money being invested in new tall buildings in the centre of the business district that don't quite jive with the otherwise laid-back (if you'll pardon the expression) atmosphere of the town. Attractive coastline and tall mountains as the backdrop.

Kagoshima in winter - Feb - can be very cold. Food here is great and the Satsuma Japanese wonderful. Black is a lucky color in Kagoshima thus the my son's Rebnise basketball team wears black at home games. Taxis are always available at stations and it is not far from anywhere. A day trip to Ibuski's sand baths is recommended - on fine days. Plenty of public natural mineral water onsens are available. Shiroyama's has a fantastic view .The ferry ride and Rainbow Onsen on Sakurajima is great.

We got one day pass for the buses. It was so easy and very convenient to go and see places. We explore the city by changing the buses. The places of interest were in walking distance from the bus stops; Peace Park, Urakami Catholic Church, Basilica OURA ( UNESCO ), Glover garden, Megane Bridge and much more. With the City bus you can not go outside the city.

I'd strongly recommend taking the time to ensure that the accommodation you're booking is close enough to any specific areas you wish to visit. Saga itself, is simply a township without too many attractions other than a museum, a castle and a couple of short, pretty walks. If you want to see something further afield, such as Arita or Imari (located in the Saga region), be prepared for quite a bit of travel. Even places to stay near these areas are several kilometers away.
