- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 2,207 reviewsI thought this would be just a nice sleepover place and nothing more but it is so beautiful and has a very unique traditional feel that it made our stay on the island so much better. You even get free breakfast/dinner if you don't have time to eat outside and depart early in the morning/ don't manage to fetch a table in a reataurant in the evening because there is limited amount of restaurants that are open in late evening or early morning. The whole house is very authentic and the family that runs the place also offers a little souvenir shop with super cheap prices of local souvenirs, some even locally handmade. Thr staff is super nice and the xommom areas welcoming to spend the evenings in game/living room. Also had beautiful garden and amazing views from the rooms right on the seaGuest review byRomanSlovakia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 379 reviewsThe architectural design and interior decoration are cozy yet elegant. We love the room with the sea view and the massage chair. After spending time in tiny hotel rooms in cities, we just went crazy for the vast space inside which kinda felt like home: a big tv screen, cozy mattresses and duvets, and easily adjustable a/c. Walking around the hotel was comfortable with their lounge wear and Japanese slippers, and the onsen is easy to access and very relaxing. The staff are very friendly and eager to help out. Everywhere we walked past, they greeted and were attentive even though some of them may not speak a fluent English. Breakfast is abundant and very well-managed.Guest review byTithinunThailand
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very Good - What previous guests thought, 23 reviewsHotel Miyu Rikyu is perfectly situated along the waterfront just a few steps from Miyajima Ferry. We had a sea view room and could see the Otori Gate from our window. The setting and room were very. beautiful, Sleeping on the traditional futons on tatami mats was comfortable, and the set 12 course menu was delicious (though could be challenging for picky eaters). Breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful. Note that we were the only foreigners during our stay and the staff does speak English but it is a much more traditional Ryokan. On site onsen (public bath) was very nice with a small view out to the sea from the top floor.Guest review byEdithUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 1,615 reviewsThis was our favorite hotel in Japan! We stayed only one night to get to see the island of Miyajima a bit more, and staying here was such a nice experience. In particular, the dinner at the hotel was so special and delicious! You need to message them to make the reservation some days in advance, but they were always very responsive. The facilities of the hotel were really great: the public baths, the rooftop terrace, the footbath café. Finally, the staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here.Guest review byMaydel FernandezGermany
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 708 reviewsWe stayed in the older part of the ryokan and it was spectacular. The rooms have beautiful views and the onsen is heavenly. Staff were friendly and helpful, and our meals were delicious and perfectly presented. We had a very romantic stay and enjoyed being on the island at night. Do yourself a favour and wear the yukata - it's the most comfortable clothing I've ever worn. We would love to come back!Guest review byLBajurnyAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 637 reviewsShinko, our host, was delightful! We were overwhelmed with the wonderful service and the amazing quality and quantity of food! The 7 course dinner was exceptional, so beautifully presented and by such a genuinely lovely lady. Breakfast was so plentiful, we had to hike up Mt Missen to work it off. The location is directly opposite the ferry terminal, so it is ideally placed.Guest review byJosephAustralia
- From $1,492.03 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,335 reviewsPrivate onsen was beautiful. Kaiseki meals were delicious. Staff was very accommodating with last minute addition to meal. Because we had reservations at private onsen, we had to leave before dessert was served so the staff made arrangements to deliver our dessert to our room after our onsen bath. So accommodating!Guest review byBaronUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 2,214 reviewsWe really enjoyed our stay! Staff were very helpful, a shuttle bus is available to get you back and forth from the ferry and central area of the island. Dinning experience was great. Well recommended if you wish to experience a typical japanese stay ♥️.Guest review byMs A ✈️Malta

Miyajima was great for walking around and doing the ropeway to the top. A lot of little eateries and street food- good if you like seafood. Scenic with the giant Tori gate and shrines, woods, deer walking around. Miyajima was one of my favorite spots on our trip to Japan.Guest review byMarciaUnited States - 10.0
It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come...
It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It was my second trip to Miyajima island.
It was my second trip to Miyajima island. The first time I only travelled their with my wife and we did not stay in any accommodation. I left back on the ferry same day feeling that I had to eventually return. I was able to do that and I loved every moment. It's an island I would consider going back too again and staying over again. The island offers so much. For those that want heritage and history, tick. For those that want a close encounter with a deers, tick. For those who love calm beaches or mountains, tick. For those that want experiences with friendly locals, tick. Those wanting to do shopping, especially souveniours, tick. For those who want physical activity, the walking trails up the mountain are a definite tick. I could go on, but, for so many reasons I love and would highly recommend travel to Miyajima.Guest review byAdamAustralia
