- From US$55.87 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 406 reviewsvery kind staff. I have lived in many cities in the Kansai region, and they are very kind and helpful. English is always available there so no worries. The hotel is located at the heart of the Nara city, especially the Nara park, Nara machi, and Sarusawa-ike Pond. I can easily walk to each tourism attraction without using any buses or trains. If I have the chance to visit Nara again, I will definitely choose it again. Although some tourists may not spend a night in Nara, but I highly recommend you to spend a night here. The hotel quatily is definitely better than other cities in the Kansai region, given that you spent the same amount of money.Guest review byChee YungMalaysia

Very soothing. The place has a great retro atmosphere, clean and nice onsen and great food. On top of that, when I inquired about public buses to Koyasan from near villages, I was told by the receptionist he will take me there the next morning via car. Free of charge. What a service!Guest review byChristianCzech Republic

Both the private and public baths were lovely. The food was great and the waitress did a great job explaining for each course what we were having and how to eat it properly. The location was also great with the major sights and the deer in walking distance.Guest review bysmallasteroidGermany

Nara is beautiful.
Nara is beautiful. There are two UNESCO world heritage sites and lots of deer. If you are afraid of animals, I don't recommend it. The deer will follow you if you have food and they may try to take it from you if you hesitate or don't gently push them away. They are not, as a general rule, aggressive. A lot of tourists freak out and just throw their crackers. Don't do that. Stay calm. The deer don't want to hurt you, they just want a snack. They don't care for being pet either. Just snap your crackers (200 yen sold at different stands) into 3-4 pieces, hold out your hand flat and let them take it from you. Be aware of how many are around you. They will surround and nibble your clothing. I found this hilarious. I grew up with cows and they will pretty much do the same thing. Use your voice and be gentle. The one day bus pass is really useful. I wish I had more time in Nara.Guest review bySarahUnited States - 10.0

Tenri is not as well-known as Nara or Asuka, but the area is dotted with dozens of key-hole shaped kofun, ancient burial mounds. Some are accessible and many are how they have been for hundreds of years.Guest review byBernadetteJapan - 10.0

i liked the Kashihara Jingu and the visit to various burial places of former tenno. on my last day, i visited the Omiwa Jinja; there is an observation hill where you could watch the sunset over Kashihara city. walking around town however, you can notice the signs of declining population and abandoned shops. there are a few good ramen shops in the area if you know where to find them, like Saika Ramen, highly recommended for its spicy flavour.Guest review byGaryIndia - 10.0

Nara Koen (park) is a beautiful place.
Nara Koen (park) is a beautiful place. Todaiji and Kasuga Kaisha is located nearby. The Sarusawa Ike (pond) behind the Nara Park leads to shopping place. One can spend whole day around Nara. - Beware of the deer, they might get a bit aggressive when offering food. - It gets crowded during on-season.Guest review byLopa - 10.0
I love the deer and the ambiance of Nara.
I love the deer and the ambiance of Nara. Arrive early and expect crowds. As with anything else, the further you walk from the main area, you can stumble across more peaceful and secluded places. I would avoid Nara on the weekend, if possible. Deer can be friendly (and bow politely to ask for a treat) or aggressive (grabbing items out of your bag, biting your clothing, or being over-zealous). Keep your crackers high or out of sight and feel free to walk away from deer that are not vibing.Guest review byAmyUnited States
