- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 115 reviewsWe had a wonderful night in Yamanashi prefecture. We booked the hotel as it was our anniversary and we were visiting some vineyards in the area. Being from the UK we did not know what to expect and the view from the hotel terrace of Mount Fuji blew us away. The amazing staff, who were just the most friendly of our 3 week trip, showed us to our room and we had been upgraded to a suite. It was by far the biggest hotel room we have ever stayed in and absolutely huge for a Japanese hotel. The best part was that we got a perfect view of Mount Fuji from our bedroom. A spectacular treat. We ate in the hotel and had a set Japanese meal which was delicious. We practiced our Japanese as all the staff spoke little to no English, but they tried so hard to help us and were amazing. The next morning we had a nice breakfast while watching a film crew make a movie on the terrace. An added bonus. We wished we could have stayed longer and our amazing reception lady even helped us to our car with our massive suitcases. The stay really exemplified Japanese warmth and hospitality. I wish I had taken names so I could mention them personally. We were made to feel so special and it was explained to us that not many British tourists visit them and the region. I can tell you that everyone should explore beyond the main cities, as the wine is great, the countryside splendid and the Fuji views (if you're lucky like we were and got a sunny day) were breathtaking. A true highlight of our trip. Thank you everyone.Guest review byjulieUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 195 reviewsI think this may be my favourite hotel. The hotel & grounds are beautiful, the view is stunning, and the in-room private onsen was so amazing. Plus all the little touches made the experience so memorable - (mostly) refillable complimentary mini bar which had bottled beer, juice, and snacks, the scented volcanic rock and volcanic rock filtered water, the in-room fire that the staff can set up for you, and the filter coffee equipment, pajamas, and loungewear that is available! There is also complimentary free flow tiny canned beer, juice, and milk coffee from the public onsen, outdoor public fireplace that the staff can set up for you in the evenings, and the wi-fi is great. As a group of 7, we were provided the restaurant private room for every meal, with a beautiful view of the grounds. Truly had a magical experience at Fufu.Guest review byEllenaSingapore
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,058 reviewsThe hotel is very conveniently located near quite a few restaurants, as well as Book Off!, which is a great place to find some secondhand vintage consoles and luxury handbags (although the prices aren't very competitive). There is ample parking even though it looks like there are only a few spaces in the front. The hotel is made up of two buildings and the rest of the car park spaces are around the corner behind the main building. The breakfast is lovely and relatively inexpensive at 1300 yen for all you can eat. We had a rental car so I cannot comment on convenience to public transport. There is also an open air terrace on each floor where you can take some pictures of Mt Fuji, although you can take pictures of Mt Fuji from virtually anywhere in this town. :)Guest review byChristinaAustralia
- From US$521.45 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,536 reviewsThe room was beautiful and well kept, it was a very cool experience for Americans who have never seen a traditional Japanese style accommodation. The view of Mount Fuji from the roof was worth the walk up the stairs and the Onsen was clean and beautiful. Also when you check in the lake front viewing area with snacks was just the place to warm up and watch the beautiful area.Guest review byGarcharUnited States

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.5Good - What previous guests thought, 34 reviewsFor a single room it was fairly spacious compared to other single rooms I've had before. The whole bathroom is higher which is a little weird but not a problem, maybe if you're elderly this would be an issue, otherwise the room was fine, comfy bed.Guest review byKellyAustralia

2 nights was too long, 1 night would have been plenty. Its easy to get around but the main bus/ train station is crazy busy. Its quite hectic and crowded, allow extra time to make up for the queues.Guest review byMichelleAustralia - 10
I recommend staying.
I recommend staying. I wrote a long review separately which I hope is useful; please refer to that. In addition, for young children, you can visit the sheep shed where they keep the sheep to see sheep up close, wander down and the up the hill behind reception, and get the best tasting soft serve ever from the restaurant!Guest review byDavinosJapan - 10

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt. Fuji never showed her face during our stay for the icon lake photos but it didn’t take away from the magic. The little town just 20 mins away by bus from our domes was super cute, filled with history, culture, and more shopping.Guest review byElizabethUnited States - 8.0

We really enjoyed the place, but it was a bit dead midweek. There were some tourists, but not very many. It was good to have a car to explore. We went to -Kofu Castle Ruins (peak bloom time!) -Yamanashi Fruit Park -Maglev Exhibition Center We ate at -TREE Anthony's Kitchen (AMAZING Greek Food) -Kaosen Thai (eh)Guest review byPena - 10

Hokuto is a bit of an off-the-beaten-track destination, perfect for a weekend or even 3 or four days. Surrounded by beautiful nature, it's a great place for hikers - since it's located at the base of the Yatsugatake mountain range. The adventurers can go explore the hiking trails and waterfalls, but also there are charming cafes, art galleries and international cuisine restaurants splattered in the area. I would avoid going there by car on a Saturday morning, because the Chuo Express Road gets packed and it may take up to six hours to get there from Tokyo (the normal is 2 hours). So if you can, go on a weekday.Guest review byVillageOneJapan - 8.0

Automatic check-in & check-out process, good point for those who love automation. There is always staff supporting this step. Breakfast is disappointing, has limited options, no fresh fruits. Close to the station and good noise isolation.Guest review byAnonymous - 10

This stay was the highlight of our weeklong romantic trip. The chief priest assigned to us,”Ken”, was exceptionally kind, informative and helpful as was his wife. Both were remarkably gracious hosts. The temple compound and tour was truly remarkable. Highly recommended.Guest review byBryanUnited States - 10

We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect. Yamanakako is quieter and less touristy, which is exactly what we wanted. However, the bus schedule limits how many places you can go cuz they come every 1 hrGuest review byLiCanada
