Perfect experience as the last night in Sri Lanka. The hotel is located in a large tea garden only with 39 rooms, next to a local village, a quiet place with great tea garden view and full of fresh air. The hotel has designed several hiking path for the guest, worth to try. The staff here is extremely friendly and considerate. They almost thought about everything I needed during my stay. The quality of the service here is impressive.

Could not recommend this accomodation enough! It is very conventionally located away from the busier centre in a peaceful area but with a shortcut path only a short 7 minutes right into town. Both Roshan and his wife were such great hosts, very accomodating, always checking in and gave great recommendations for paces to eat, activities to do and transport options on a budget eg giving me info on busses! Facilities are great with a private bathroom and shared kitchen as well as a clothes washing machine! Room was spatulas new and clean. Could not fault it!

We had a truly wonderful stay at Croft Cottage! The property is a stunning British-style 3-storey villa, beautifully designed and immaculately maintained. The location is excellent, making it both peaceful and convenient. The cottage has lovely common areas that make it feel warm and inviting, perfect for relaxing together. All facilities are top-notch, thoughtfully provided, and everything worked seamlessly. A special mention and heartfelt thanks to Taranga, the housekeeper, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable in every way. His attention to detail, hospitality, and genuine care made the experience exceptional — he truly elevated our time here. Overall, Croft Cottage is the perfect blend of charm, comfort, and luxury. Highly recommended, and we would absolutely love to return!

I liked many things about Nuga Retreat. First of all, the beautiful, natural surroundings with mountain views created a unique atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The rooms were comfortable and well-equipped, providing convenience, and the outdoor pool was a great place to unwind.     The property is located at a beautiful location. Everything was very smooth from check-in to check-out. When I was not feeling well, the staff, especially Mahendran, went out of his way and sent us over-the-counter medicine, showcasing his professionalism and hospitality. Moreover, considering my situation, the staff was very kind to prepare and offer me drinks which were not even in the breakfast menu. Besil also did a very good job helping us bring our luggage to and from our vehicle. This was a place where we truly felt authentic Sri Lankan hospitality. Recommend a 10/10!

    Great location in the heart of the city with close proximity to all key destinations and attractions in Nuwara Eliya. The property was kept very clean and the interior was well arranged. The food was good although limited in variety. The manager and the staff were very professional, cordial, and very accommodating.     One of the best places we visited during our stay in Sri Lanka. They have fabulous rooms. You feel like an aristocrat living in the 19th century during breakfast and dinner and regard that you didn't bring a suit with you. The facility is located near a tea field that you can visit, also the hotel organized a tour to the nearest tea factory which was also an excellent experience.

    Besides doing the incredibly beautiful hike to Adams Peak, you can hire a tuktuk driver to guide you to Morey's Waterfall. the best waterfall we got to hike to in Sri lanka, challenging 1 hour hike but you'll get to stroll thru lush tea plantations and walk along side Lake Morey.

    Maskeliya is a market town which could be lot more .The hilly terrain is a planners dream. I imagine the buildings painted pastal pink and yellow, flower pots hanging from the eves, it could be a destination rather than a quick stop to buy supplies on the way to elsewhere as is now.

    If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local...

    If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local experience, NanuOya is a good town to visit. It’s very close to the main tourist town Nuwara Eliya (approx 9km away) and has buses heading there every 20mins. You can also get there by train. The locals are very helpful and kind. You get a few places to eat food like South Indian dishes and koththu and a few places to buy liquor from. There are two waterfalls and the larger, wider one located inside the Glassough tea estate is a place where you can bathe in on a sunny day. It’s a lovely little town surrounded by tea estates!

    Do not climb on Saturdays as you will most probably not be able to reach the top. It was over-crowded and the path is narrow the last 500 meters. Got stuck in one spot for 45 minutes and decided to turn around. Still got amazing views though and the experience of local pilgrimage which was a privilege!
