We were very warmly welcomed upon arrival and were looked after with meticulous care for the rest of our stay (thank you very much, Sanath!). The room was perfect and the bed (including linens and pillows) was very comfortable. Thank you also to the very kind and generous Chef Thushara and his team for the wonderful Sri Lankan cooking class (delicious chicken curry). Another highlight of our stay was having our sundowners on a hidden patio perched on the rocks and overlooking the surf. The drinks and the view were spectacular! While you're there, also try the spa. Wonderful massages. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better stay and we look forward to coming back. All sea view rooms and the room we stayed in was very spacious . A few minutes walk to jungle beach. The staff was friendly and even made arrangements to get our meals sorted. There is a kitchen and if we bring the raw materials we can even cook on our own , just need to pay them for the space we use. We did not venture into Bentota. We are expats living in Colombo so no need to explore the city. The hotel was at the right spot for a 100% relaxing weekend away with no distractions. The ocean is not that swimmable as the sea was very rough and looked dangerous. The pool was a welcome alternative. We drove to Galle for the Saturday to watch the game between Springboks and Kiwis. Great beach, we felt like Robinson Crusoe on the beach, almost just the 2 of us. Visiting Mahdu Lake at 6 a.m. watching the sun goes up. A natural paradise with a lot of birds and other animals. My favourite place was the turtle hatchery. Most meals were eaten at the Hotel. Very easy to get around. There is a tour agency opposite the hotel entrance, it cant get any better than that. It is easy to take tuk tuk or van taxis. Superior beach front view. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Well done to the management and staff for this top class facility.
