Just everything. Really nice apartment, specially equipped for western turists, with hair dryer, toilet brush, drinking water, big room and bathroom, with big patio in front of the room, plus swimming pool. What else can you wish more. It was the best experience during my trip in Sri Lanka. Big bonus was also Janaka, resort manager who organized Safari in Yala for us.

Excellent, exceptional care, near beautiful lake, where you can watch the birds, owner is very helpful, they also cook there. Short walk to town, small shop on the corner. Internet working well. They book you Safari tour so you do not have to worry about anything. Nice open space common area.

We had the best stay at Black Panther! Nalin is the kindest person ever and so helpful with everything! He took us around and spotted some super nice birds. He was really knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about them. He also helped with organizing a safari to Yala where we had a great time :) Also the rest of the family is so nice and the dinner we had was absolutely delicious, one of the best we had so far! The rooms are further really spacious and clean, felt really comfortable! We will definitely come back!

This is the place that exceeds your expectations! All the reviews that you read is not too good to be true- it’s a real reflection from people that experienced the stay at the Elegant Lake House. From the first step you’re greeted by Randy and his exceptional service. The property is beautiful, surrounded by nature- perfect place to relax and disconnect. We definitely suggest to stay more than one night if you can, because we promise you won’t want to leave. Randy has a lot of knowledge to share about his village and nature and he gladly does it for his guests by showing around. The food that they prepare is delicious! As a local couple first of all I wanted to thank to the owner of this place and pubudu he not just a staff he is very familiar person. and extremely kind and 100% decent person. when I was booked there I was very particular about privacy and protection. so I can 100% guarantee to anyone who like to come there in future. because the place in owner property and their house below us. and 100% safe. and there is no security cameras in rooms. so you ll have 100% best privacy.... and regarding room view is in front of paddy field. and village view so much beautiful. and we had very good breakfast for good price and food is very hygienic. so overall everything is perfect and I forgot to tell. they have hot water as well and in the bathroom wall is very beautiful with snow mountain art. 100% I recommend this place. looks luxurious and safe specially for foreigners. to the Tip. tissamaharayama temple 5min from there

    I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort, and it was an experience worth every moment. From the moment we arrived, the tranquil ambiance and stunning views of the surrounding paddy fields immediately set the scene for a relaxing getaway. The resort itself is immaculate, with spotless rooms and well-maintained common areas. Its proximity to the main attractions is incredibly convenient, making it an excellent base for exploring the local sights. What truly sets Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort apart, however, is the exceptional hospitality of the staff. A special shout out to Ayenaji and Surangi from the front desk, and Iresh, Janith, Gihan, Wathsala, and Pavindu from the restaurant for their outstanding service. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to the many other sweet and most attentive hotel staff who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Their service was unmatched, combining professionalism with a warm, personal touch that made us feel right at home. Initially, we only signed up for the bed and breakfast deal, but the quality of the food was so impressive that we ended up dining at the hotel for both lunch and dinner. Every meal was delicious, showcasing a variety of local and international dishes that catered to all tastes.     An incredible setting within Yala National Park with wildlife around you - literally in the round of the location. The quality of the tented lodge accommodation and the food were both outstanding - the best we experienced in Sri Lanka in both cases - by some margin. The quality of the three safaris we did were excellent, with a great guide and great drivers! Our location meant we could access the park more quickly than many other tours and we seemed to have VIP 'fast track' access through the entry gates, ahead of many, many other safari trucks. The overall customer service was excellent with Sashi attending to our every queston and need via Whatsapp and in person. Thank you Sashi! The food and service in the restaurant were both outstanding and special mention must go to Tilshan who looked after us in the restaurant every day of our stay - he was superb, remembering our preferences after day one.

    We had a great experience staying here and exploring Yala. The hotel arranged two safaris for us, and both were excellent. Our guide Sampath and driver Supoon were very knowledgeable, and thanks to their experience, we were able to see leopards on both trips. They knew how to navigate the crowds and where to go for the best wildlife sightings. The hotel itself was lovely. We enjoyed the view of the beach from our cabin, and listening to the waves from the porch was a highlight of our stay. The property’s access to nature was excellent. The nearby lake was a prime spot for wildlife viewing. We saw crocodiles, wild boars, and elephants there. The staff, especially Gayan and Saman, made an effort to connect with us every day, ask how our day was, and point out wildlife around the property. We would recommend this place for anyone visiting Yala and looking for a peaceful stay close to nature.

    Location location location- being based in Kataragama it’s away from the ‘normal herd’ of Yala safari locations.When out on safari, we met a small limited amount of safari trucks. Other cheaper companies based near the coast race up into the national park daily when the Yala park gates open leaving you eating dust from all other high speed vehicles and chasing wildlife away from all the human noises / vehicle seen . If this is your once a lifetime Yala safari, spend the money and do it properly. This company is also animal welfare minded Accomodation wise it’s like the photos. Luxurious tented accomodation Very spacious. Nice bed Beautiful pre dinner bon fire with a aperitif bar Stunning outdoor dinners - delicious food. Romantic setting with lanterns

    I have rarely been welcomed so warmly in a hotel; you immediately feel at home. The scenery around the hotel is breathtaking and the staff is even more professional and courteous. We had dinner and breakfast, both of which tasted very good! Demmi was also very accommodating, read every wish, really crazy. Our esteemed Chamma drove us from the hotel to Trincomalee, a real guide who has Sri Lanka in his blood, he knows so much about this country and is very accommodating. We have already booked a second trip with him. Sri Lanka and this hotel is a dream.

    We stayed in this hotel for 2 days in October 2023. The hotel is located in the Yala Nature Reserve on the ocean. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel staff. The general manager of Colonel proved to be an amazing person. He gave us a real celebration in honor of our wedding anniversary. It was funny and unforgettable. The hotel itself is not new, but it has everything you need. The rooms are large and colorful. All with ocean views, comfortable enough. Many thanks to the staff of the entire hotel for their hospitality and attention to our people.

Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

    Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

    This place is amazing.

    This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

    Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

    We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

    The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari.

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

    We were extremely satisfied with the hotel and its beautiful surroundings. Everything exceeded our expectations. We took lots of photos & are sharing them with friends. The restaurants,Roof bar,Spa's and the pool side and pool is world class with out doubt! The service was outstanding, and that is something that can really make or break a vacation. Congratulations to the Super Proactive General Manager Mr Krishanta Damunupola and his team members to include Mr Seeman and Miss Sandani(Intern) for being so accommodating at all times with oodles of dedication. We also especially liked the super-comfy room with the balcony, bed linens which were very high quality, and felt so good to slip into each night. Thanks so much for a lovely visit.We'll be singing your praises for a long time. Thanks!
