Very modern yet stylish accommodation. We were surprised by how generous the whole accommodation is, considering that the city of Tata is not exactly one of the highlights for visitors to Morocco. After a long stay in Morocco, we really appreciated a normally functioning shower with reasonably hot water! Last but not least, I must mention the range of local wines and beers on offer at quite reasonable prices.

Mustafa is a very welcoming and friendly host, he even went out of his way to show us around the old Kasbah and gave us a lot of interesting information about its history. At our request they served us vegetarian food, and every evening they prepared a different dinner for us, all of which were absolutely delicious. We went on a tour to the Sahara Desert and Iriki National Park with Ahmed, and it was an amazing experience. We couldn't recommend this place more and hope we can come back again!

Where to start....we kind of accidentally found this absolute gem owned and run by Zahra and her sister Myriam. They grew up basically next door to the camp and it has been Zahra's dream to establish this accommodation. The camp consists of 4 spotlessly clean and comfy tents with private toilets/showers and a beautiful outside area with seatings. The food is fresh and delicious ( we tried a veggie and a köfte tagine), the property absolutely well kept. But by far the best is the extraordinary kindness, hospitality and warmth of both of the two young women who welcome you to their world. We intended just to stay for one night but extended our stay and said goodbye with sad hearts. We hope to come back again! ❤️

It was unbelievable experience. The way to the camp was adventure as we had a tour on the way to the camp - 4x4 ride through the desert with really interesting rock formations (tajin mountain, oasis, fossils, tea break in the the restaurant in the middle of the desert). Once we got to the camp we could see a lovely sunset from the nearby dunes. At night there was a dinner (tajin, veggies, lots of fruits) and campfire with traditional songs. In the morning we had a camel ride during the sunrise. Breakfast (joghurt, egg-based tajin dish, bread, fruits, honey, jam, tea & coffee). The tenets are clean and cosy with clean linen, it was warm at night. You will also get towels. Bathroom also clean. No bugs or anything what we would be scared of. All in all- we got much more than we expected. The location is just amazing. You can see not only sand dunes but all kind of desert on the way, interesting rock formations and mountains. It is really best place to experience the desert.

The riad is absolutely gorgeous - it’s a historic building that is over 100 years old and the women who run the riad - the lovely Fatima and her wonderful mom - who are the same family that built the home that became the riad, are absolutely amazing. Honestly, anyone who wants an authentic experience in a Moroccan, Sahrawi home should stay here. The delicious home-cooked food, using all organic ingredients from the family’s farm, the lovely company of Fatima and her family, and the beautiful riad (not to mention the beauty of this lesser well-known part of the Sahara) make Riad Bounaylat among the best places you can stay in Morocco if you are looking for a real Moroccan experience.
