FAQs about hotels on Gozo
Shaped by Sea and Settler
On peaceful Gozo, red-domed churches pop up behind cactus hedges and rolling countryside gives way to impressive coastlines. The 2nd largest Maltese island is a short ferry ride from Malta, and between them is little Comino, whose beautiful Blue Lagoon is popular for swimming.
The ferry docks in the small Mgarr port, overlooking brightly painted Maltese fishing boats. Xewkija is the largest town and has the largest church, but Victoria (or Rabat) is the capital. Its walled citadel offers fabulous views across the island towards distant Malta.
Set around a sheltered bay, Marsalforn has the most Gozo hotels, while Xlendi on the opposite side of the island is in a cleft between 2 cliffs which offers beautiful views of the setting sun. At neighbouring Sannat, cliffs plunge spectacularly into the sea, but the most impressive rock formation is the Azure Window on the coast below Gharb and San Lawrenz, home to one of the 5-star hotels in Gozo.
The island also has a rich history - the Ggantija Temples in Xaghra are remains of its Neolithic period. A village dating to Arabic times is Ghasri, the island’s smallest and one of the closest to the popular Gozo diving spot – Wied il-Ghasri.
Booking.com has a good range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Gozo in each of these characteristic places.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 300 reviewsSpent the month of February in Ta Frenc, in a very spacious apartment that had everything I required. As a single female, I felt very safe and comfortable. Good wifi, TV and washing machine. The sea and pool views from the balcony were absolutely stunning (46C). The pool is lovely, although a tad baltic this time of year! Beautiful vista of the lighthouse and nearby hill top town too. On a clear night you could see the lights of Sicily twinkling in the distance! The countryside was a lush green sprinkled with yellow wild flowers and prickly pear. Just gorgeous! Great walking. Only 3 days rain in the month and beautiful blue skies. Ghasri is a small quiet rural community with a supermarket (12 mins walk away). There was a bus to Victoria once an hour and I survived without renting a car. If Zeppi's bar was moved from Qala to Ghasri, I don't think I would have ever left!!! Special thanks to Angelo, Christian and the lovely ladies in the Fanal office for making my stay so special.Guest review byErinIreland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 66 reviewsWe had an amazing stay at Tan Nanna Farmhouse in Kercem. The property was spotless, spacious, and incredibly well-equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the farmhouse has three bathrooms, which made it super convenient! Travelling with a toddler, we appreciated that a high chair, cot, and a cot mattress were provided. The pool area was peaceful and private, ideal for both adults and little ones. The location in Kercem is quiet but central, just minutes from Victoria, supermarkets, and some lovely countryside walks. A big thank you to Marvic, our host, who was always available, kind, and quick to reply whenever we had questions — a great host really makes all the difference! If you're planning a Gozo break, don’t miss out on Tan Nanna. It’s family-friendly, well-located, and truly relaxingGuest review byNicoletteBTDNMalta
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 193 reviewsExcellent accommodation - lovely house, well renovated, all that is needed is present. Lovely pool- although it was still too cool to use it - nice veranda next to it to sit in the sun. Lovely jacuzzi - took a while though to get it warm - switch on at least 3 hours before you want to use it including bubbles for the last hour as otherwise gets immediately cold again. Kitchen has all utensils needed but no coffee maker - we brought a caffetiere (never travel without as I really need my coffee....). Super easy to communicate with Simona - she gets back really quickly and is very helpful. Easy to collect keys. Nice bathrooms, good bedrooms! Clean! Lovely location with a bus stop around the corner.Guest review byMichaelaUnited Kingdom

Xaghra is a lovely unspoilt town with very good restaurants and friendly people. However there is construction everywhere and everything is covered in dust. I hope the infrastructure can keep up with the buildings - the roads are terrible, uneven and the traffic struggles to get past the parked vehicles. The church dominates the square and is ornate and beautiful. The Latini restaurant and the Oleander have excellent food at reasonable prices and friendly staff. It’s a small town to walk around and the Archeological Museum is a must.Guest review byLindsayUnited Kingdom - 10.0

There is extensive building & rebuilding work being carried on in the town and local area which disrupted the traffic at times. Apart from that it is a delightful town with good transport links to other parts of Gozo and to Malta. There are many and varied restaurants in town and we enjoyed trying a different one every night! The apartment had access to a pool which we found preferable to the beach but the children liked the beach too. We took a boat day trip around Gozo and Comino which we would recommend. It included swimming at the Blue Lagoon and a delicious buffet lunch.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Xlendi is a very pretty cove, which has an amazing impact as soon as you see it. There is a shallow end perfect for young children. The bars and restaurants are literally on the sea front so you can sit and have a drink and watch the family in the water. Although there is not much sand at the front the easy access ladders from the rocks at the side more than make up for that. Because of the rocks it is brilliant for snorkeling. It felt very safe and well cordoned off from leisure boats. There are also several water activities on offer from here.Guest review byRobertsUnited Kingdom - 10.0

If you want a sleepy town full of character and away from the bustle - but within striking distance of the best of Gozo - then Gharb might be just the place. There’s great place to eat in the shadow of the church and another very good and reasonably priced restaurant just down from the square.Guest review byJOHNUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Qala is a quite village with vibrant nights in summer. There are some local bars and restaurants which are open daily during the day and night. It's just up the road from the Mgarr harbour, and close to Nadur, Xaghra, and Victoria. You need to pass through Qala to go through Hondoq bay, which is very popular with the locals and tourists.Guest review byMaxMalta - 10.0

Nadur is an excellent basecamp for exploring both Malta and the island of Gozo. It’s a peaceful destination with no noise, very few tourists, and none of the usual party crowds – no rowdy groups or bachelor parties. For families with children, it truly is an ideal choice. The town has a small but charming center with a pleasant square and several good restaurants. Supermarkets and all essentials are conveniently close by, so you’ll find everything you need without hassle. From the promenade, there are also stunning views that make evening walks unforgettable. Many wonderful places within a short drive to enjoy the stay - to name Ramla, San Blas or Hondoq. A perfect place to stay if you’re looking for comfort, tranquility, and easy access to discover the beauty of Gozo and Malta.Guest review byBorislavSlovakia - 10.0

We stayed during the feast at end July, but we knew what to expect, fireworks/patards and church bells from 8am, church bands in evening and events happening all week. Otherwise at other times, Sannat is a lovely quiet village with band club, football club, small supermarket and bar close to property. Bus stop with hourly bus service into Rabat/Victoria, where you can get other busses to other areas. Or use Bolt (similar to Uber) app to call for taxi as island is not big easy to get around.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
