Still a residential area despite some tourist accommodation. Lots of small cafes very close by, some traditional, some trendy. You'll be close to the Puppet Museum and a 10m walk away from the excellent Museu de Arte Antinguo, where there's a beautiful riverside garden and cafe. It's a 15 to 20 minutes walk in the other direction to the central Praca do Commercio. If you don't like walking, catch a tram or an Uber. Inside, the studio apartment is a bright, well designed space on the ground floor. The kitchen is well equipped and we very much appreciated the washing machine. Shower gel, cleaning products etc all provided, which made for an easy stay. There's a spacious cupboard which is big enough for those of us who don't travel light! We would certainly come back to this apartment if it was available. We missed a few of our scheduled days in Lisbon due to plane issues, but once we got there, it was magical. The people are incredibly friendly, most speak English (or are willing to humor you if you want to try Portuguese). There are numerous restaurants, tours easily accessible, great views, lots to see and do, and lots of shopping. Having been here before, I know the beauty of this place, but because of the high parking rates, not being able to reach most of the castles/palaces by car(closed roads), paying eur 13,50 per day for a bus fare, the extreme business (overcrowded) and the high prices for food and drinks, overshadowed the beauty this place had offered me in the past. Beach and rugged cliff coastline was a good combo . Excellent choices of restaurants from higher end ( Bougain) and simpler but good . The Paula Rego centre was a major draw for me and I wasn’t disappointed . Pretty parks to stroll in the shade too. The harbour and beaches are buzzing. If I’d have had longer I’d have hired a bike and cycled along to Estoril and the other direction to the lighthouse and beaches . The train service along the coast is reasonably priced and reliable. Oeiras is a suburb of Lisbon, so not overwhelmed by tourists. We found some great places to eat that were appreciative of our custom. There was a fantastic vegan restaurant just outside the town centre (Alma Veg). Almada is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Lisbon with all the tourist activity. Easy 10 minute ferry ride to Lisbon. $3.20 euro return trip. Almada is less expensive with all the food options you could possibly want, all the while you have a chance to enjoy the fabulous people of Portugal.
