Still a residential area despite some tourist accommodation. Lots of small cafes very close by, some traditional, some trendy. You'll be close to the Puppet Museum and a 10m walk away from the excellent Museu de Arte Antinguo, where there's a beautiful riverside garden and cafe. It's a 15 to 20 minutes walk in the other direction to the central Praca do Commercio. If you don't like walking, catch a tram or an Uber. Inside, the studio apartment is a bright, well designed space on the ground floor. The kitchen is well equipped and we very much appreciated the washing machine. Shower gel, cleaning products etc all provided, which made for an easy stay. There's a spacious cupboard which is big enough for those of us who don't travel light! We would certainly come back to this apartment if it was available. Although this is certainly a "spa hotel", it is perfectly suited to business travel as well. After a day of meetings in Lisbon, it was a pleasure to return to the hotel to unwind and relax. Lisbon has a lot to offer.
Lisbon has a lot to offer. The locals were very helpful when we needed directions or subway use help as many young people spoke English. Use Uber to get around when necessary, including to and from Sintra, as it's of great value. Take normal precautions as you would in any tourist area. It is a lovely area to visit and there is a good choice of places to eat. Using the train to get there from the airport is easy and cheap. Beach and rugged cliff coastline was a good combo . Excellent choices of restaurants from higher end ( Bougain) and simpler but good . The Paula Rego centre was a major draw for me and I wasn’t disappointed . Pretty parks to stroll in the shade too. The harbour and beaches are buzzing. If I’d have had longer I’d have hired a bike and cycled along to Estoril and the other direction to the lighthouse and beaches . The train service along the coast is reasonably priced and reliable. Oeiras is a suburb of Lisbon, so not overwhelmed by tourists. We found some great places to eat that were appreciative of our custom. There was a fantastic vegan restaurant just outside the town centre (Alma Veg). A nice town, with a moderate-sized beach, a good range of restaurants in all classifications, some historical stuff, and a modern but still cosy atmosphere. Great for a week of leisure, beach, trips into the beautiful natural environment, and all. It is relatively close to Lisbon, but can be a difficult to reach by public transport. (Many routes are possible, depending on your day, time , and preferences.) Just go through it, spend 2 hours on the transfer, enjoy the view, the towns, and locals. We visited (a.o.) 2 great places for dinner: Black Coffee Sical (not just coffee, but also lovely meals and all) BATEL (a bit pricy, but OMG, what a tasty dishes they served us) Enjoy the food and atmosphere of these two contrasting places ! And one surprising hub on the beach promenade: the Gelatomania, an outlet for ice-creams, pancakes, waffles, coffees, and many more indulgences. Always busy, fast staff, and just delicious. Popular among young and old crowd, locals, tourists, families, caring couples, solo travellers, casual friends and thirsty dogs.
