It is a wonderful city and we had a great tour guide (Peter) who we booked via Trip Advisor (The Small Group Historical Tour). We were there two nights, which is too long. It can be done in one day trip, but my recommendation would be to arrive in morning, do an afternoon tour and stay the night at the Heritage Boutique Hotel (free parking, renovated big rooms, nice, shower, great location in the lower town, nice casual restaurant and bar on the ground floor, small grocery market across the street) and get a top-floor room facing the market plaza. The upper old town gets very quiet in the late afternoon and evening. Head out the next morning to either Brasov or Sibiu.Guest review byThomasUnited States - 8.0

Its a beautiful city in the heart of Transylvania which has a rich history and cultural background, with architecture that reflects this. Its situated on both sides of the Mures river and as such is predisposed to thick fog, and high degree of moisture. The city revolves around its medical university and facilities. We booked for 2 kids and 2 adults. The room is spacious with 2 toilets, one with the bath. Has a king sized bed and a sofa bed wich they opened for us and it was enough for another 2 person. We had lunch at Tiltott Csiki Söröző & Étterem @ Szászrégen / Reghin, that was our best gastronomy experience during our trip to Transylvania. However, there are very rural and abandoned parts of Reghin, you might avoid. We stayed there because it seemed a good place to stop during our way back to Hungary. Danes is a nice, quiet village. For us it was excellent because we wanted to discover the fortified evangelical churches in the area (there's one in Danes too, but we found it closed and didn't had the chance to search for whoever has the key - there's nothing special, that's how it is most of the times). It’s compact, walkable, and brimming with history, making it perfect for a short getaway or a cultural deep dive. Favourite Places Clock Tower (Turnul cu Ceas): The panoramic view from the top is breathtaking, especially at sunset. Inside, the History Museum adds depth to the experience. Church on the Hill: A peaceful Gothic church with restored frescoes and a serene cemetery behind it. The climb up the Covered Staircase makes the journey feel like a pilgrimage. The food was excellent. The people were welcoming even though they didn't seem to get many English tourists. There were some old buildings to see and many restaurants to go to which were well priced. Nice place surrounded by the forest, the water in the Black Lake and the Bear Lake is salted, warm and wonderful, the terrace Boema is very nice with live music and the people ar dancing on the dance floor, good food, a lot of souvenirs shops with hand crafts, very kind people.
