The Pira hotel is actually in the middle of a village close to Postoina, so it is recommended to have a transport. Very calm and clean place. I am sorry we couldn't check the Pira restaurant but judging by the quality of the hotel it is supposed to also be a little gem. Our room was spacious, clean, warm enough for the winter season, well equipped. The staff is friendly and ready to support. Breakfast is also nice with an accent on local products.

We had such a wonderful experience at this hotel! The room was incredibly modern, stylish, and spotless — everything felt fresh and thoughtfully designed. The attention to detail really made me feel comfortable and pampered. But the real highlight? The dinner was absolutely phenomenal - thanks to Uroš — truly one of the most memorable dining experiences we have ever had. Every dish was a masterpiece, both in flavor and presentation. Uroš and his team were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, going above and beyond to make my stay perfect. Their warmth and professionalism made us feel right at home. We will definitely be coming back — this place is a gem!

The room and the crowd were stunning. The location is excellent and there are many nice attractions around. Tanya at the reception was lovely and helped us a lot to plan the rest of the trip, explained us about Slovenia and was very welcoming. I would definitely recommend visiting there.

    We've stayed here twice, and will surely return every time during our regular commute between countries. This beautiful, fully renovated, family run homestead is located about 7 minutes from the highway by car (super convenient even after 6 hours of driving, like in our case). It's easy to find, with a big parking lot and quick access to the check-in area. The homestead is run by mom, dad and daughter, each doing an absolute A+ of a job in their respective tasks. Check-in is easy, polite and friendly. We stayed one time in a complete apartment, the other time in a room for 5. Both were excellent. Nicely renovated, regularly maintained, with the bathrooms and the quality of the beds (even the sofas are comfortable for sleeping!) probably being the highlights. The food is all locally sourced, locally produced. This goes for the dinner options, which are all Slovenian dishes (and all excellent!), and the breakfast which is a carefully curated selection of home made marmalade, cheese and other dairy, bread, hams, salads etc. You also have warm breakfast options like scrambled eggs. I find the price point to be very reasonable, and I'd much rather give my money to a family who are clearly working super hard, than a big hotel chain without a face. Dear family if you're reading this, please know your hard work is really showing!

    We loved our stay. We were by bicycles, and the bike storage was great. We really appreciated it. We loved the room, the breakfast, and the location, which is next to the Solkan bridge, a masterpiece of civil engineering. Everything was excellent indeed. We only stayed one day, but we need to explore the Vipava Valley further. The hotel is located in a former mansion of a duke. I agree that this is a way better usage of the space :D. The staff were fantastic. Both check-in and check-out went smoothly; you feel welcome, experience warmth, and enjoy a great sense of hospitality. The same is with the staff during breakfast and with the room maintenance, all deserve a big chocolate cake :D Thank you so much for making our holiday even more glamurous.

    Beautiful housing set up with multiple areas to utilize as you needed. The pool, outdoor kitchen, grill, outdoor tables/chairs. Plenty of space to enjoy the wonderful weather and beautiful scenery. The breakfast was delicious although an extra charge. Plenty of free parking, even for larger family vehicles. Host and staff were very kind and willing to answer any questions. Suggestions were made for places to visit/eat as well as maps to help navigate. There are wine tastings 2 nights a week. I was unable to attend but wish I could have.

    Easy access from the Highway and beautifully situated in a quaint town across from the cathedral, with safe street parking. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was exceptional. I realized after we departed that I had inadvertently left my earrings on the bedside table, and we alerted them. They were found and we were notified immediately. They graciously and promptly posted them to our home in the USA. This is a level of customer service “above and beyond” the norm….

    Very good hotel, ideal for visiting Postojna or on the way to the Adriatic Sea. Very warm and courteous welcome, super rich and yet inexpensive breakfast. Despite its proximity to the main road, the room was very quiet. Air conditioning is available, but we didn't need it. We can fully recommend this hotel.

    The location is very easy to find, free parking lot for guests. The conditions exceeds any expectation for 2 stars. The staff extremely friendly and helpful. We asked for a hairdryer and we got it immediately. Anyone who wants a fair priced accomodation with excellent conditions should consider this place.

    We didn't see much of it, we were on a flight between Tyrol and Bibione. During this short time we felt comfortable, the accommodation was good, the people were nice. Everything we needed was within reach. Thank you for your hospitality! We hope to see you again!

    Dobrovo was a very nice area with some nice wineries, highly recommend Edi Simcic ~ Felix was amazingly fun. It was rainy during our stay, so we will unable to do ebikes, however this would be a great activity in better weather. Belvin was a nice restaurant nearby with grilled meats and vegetables, along with salads and pizza. Maravida House is a great Airbnb with a wonderful property (3 rooms) and a very kind and helpful host, Jacob!

    Divača is a quiet town/village on the railwy line between...

    Divača is a quiet town/village on the railwy line between Ljubljana and Koper. It is very close to both Lipica and to skočjanske Jame. These caves are my favourites in Slovenia, although not to be visited if you have a problem walking.. The park surrounding the caves is very beautiful too. Divača itself is quiet, but has a Cinema museum, which is popular with those interested in early silent films. There area few trains three each day, and also a bus service during the week. Not at the weekend, however, as I found to my cost on another occasion when I drove a friend's car home for her - and then found there were no buses on Saturdays by which to travel back to the coast!, and the next train would have kept me late for my meeting. Luckily, there were others around to heading the same way. While Skočjam and Lipica are open all year, there are also smaller caves in the area which are open only in the tourist season. To drive there from the coast takes about 30 minutes, and about the same driving time will take you to Postojna and the more famous caves there, or to Predjamskigrad, an amazing Castle , most of which is inside the mountain, hence its name - the castle in front of the cave.

    The town itself is very quiet and perfect for riding bikes around the wineries. The eating out locations are limited but we managed to.secure an outside table at the castle, which was lovely. Get an E bike. We used a local firm called DIM bikes who delivered the bikes and picked them up. Don't forget to ask for a phone holder to navigate.

    The caves were incredible - a great experience.

    The caves were incredible - a great experience. We bought the ticket which also gave access to the vivarium. Make sure you dress warmly for both as the caves are very cold. There is a shuttle - an additional 2 Euros return- that takes you from the hotel car park to Predjama Castle. This was also so interesting and well worth a visit.

    Great hiking trails but you really need a car to get around. We were on foot which limited what we could do. We walked over 12 km daily and did very little. Most of the places to visit were out of reach.

    There are many things to see around.

    There are many things to see around. We visited Lipica farm and Koper town. We found very good food at decent price at "Gostlina Spark" restaurant, it is behind the "business incubator" center, across the street from Lidl supermarket.
