Everything! Can't really put into the words how beautiful the location is... but the hotel is perfect. The staff are lovely and willing to help you, advice you etc at all times. The food in the restaurant is very good and portions are perfect to refuel after (or before) hiking. The facilities are great! Just what you need. Couldn't recommend more :)

The location ist supreme for anyone who wants to go hiking in the mountains - a great starting point for beautiful hikes. The staff was also great - very friendly and helpful! Cozy, beautifully restored hotel. Good location in Smokovec, everything is in walking distance. Quiet. Very close to the tram stop that takes you to Strbske Pleso or Tatranska Lomnica. 5-10 minutes to the funicular going to Hrebienok. We did not use the car during our stay. Very pleasant, friendly owners. Great breakfast. We also booked dinners, which were served at two close-by, nice restaurants. We enjoyed the sauna and played the pool. We hope we will come back one day.

It all seems like an ordinary 4-star hotel at first, until you see the wellness and pool area. Simply wow: first the size and views from the pool surprised us, then the size and design and choice of sauna and baths in the wellness area really surprised us. Then rooms are big and with large balconies and nice views, with extra comfy mattress (firm but bouncy, perfect). Then staff is helpful and kind, and there is a nice piano player in the evening at the bar. Bar prices are reasonable, better then in some restaurants in town

    It is a very familiar-atmosphere place - it is because a family operated apartman. It is not a five star hotel,but the place is CLEAN,the staff is kind,the price is good. Close to the main hiking trails,close to every place U need to visit in High Tatra. I recommend the place,we will go back if we visit Tatra again. Thanks for everything

    Traditional and very comfortable hotel in the centre of the town, the station is only a few minutes walk away. Large room with wonderful view of the Tatra mountains. Excellent breakfast with an enormous choice of hot and cold dishes, fresh fruit, cereals, etc. Highly recommended.

    Perfect location for exploring the High Tatra mountains.

    Perfect location for exploring the High Tatra mountains. Very close to restaurants and attractions. Our top tips for attractions within half an hour drive from Smokovce: - Bachledova TreeTop walk - Walk around Strbske Lake - Strednica Parking Photo Point. FREE. A hidden gem. Best views of the Tatra Mountains. Walk down to the 2 lakes. - Hrebienok funicular and Ladovy Dom (this was closed for maintenance but we heard great things about it). Top tip for the most overrated and expensive attraction (i.e. not recommended): Mount Lomnicky Stit cable car by Tatranska Lomnica (we got a return ticket to Skalnate Pleso). Best restaurant in Smokovce: Manuel Caffe & Bistro Italian restaurant.

    The place is just beautifull, mountains are greal I love it in different time of the year. Transport is great however if you are paying for cable cars it can get expensive but simillary you will pay the price in different countries. If skying it is worth booking the passes in advance as it saves a lot of money.

    Nova Lesna is The Perfect Place to stay when you want to...

    Nova Lesna is The Perfect Place to stay when you want to visit the High Tatras. It is close, it has great value for money and has some really beautiful places to stay at with spectacular view. I have been here twice so far but definitely will come back every time we want to go hiking in these beautiful mountains. The train is close by and quick, there are shops here and so many options to choose where you want to stay.

    Due to recent property developments, Smokovce are no longer the quaint, picturesque village it used to be. It got more crowded and noisier. Nevertheless, compared to Štrbske Pleso or Tatranska Lomnica, it is a good choice for a holiday in the High Tatras.

    My 3rd time in High Tatra' and decided to stay for a month this time and loving it! Too many peeks to climb 😉. Very well marked trails with beautiful nature. Plenty of high peeks to climb although for some certified guide is required. And don't be fooled that the highest peeks are not as high as in the alps...it is very hard work and training is required to be able to climb them. Definitely a contender to Alps

    It is a small village about 10 min by train from Poprad or Stary Smokovec where the mountains start. There are trains at least once an hour in each direction. Clean, very quiet and with a beautiful view of High Tatras. As it is a little village it is hard to find many shops and restaurants there. The nearest supermarkets are Billa and Kaufland near the Poprad station. There is a nice local vine shop in the village and a slovak cuisine krčma (tavern).

    Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka.

    Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka. Its clean, quiet and lovely. It is a perfect starting point for Slavskovksy Stit hike or through Hrebienok you can have Teryho Chata, Priecna veza, Zbojnicka chata trip within a day. For a post-hike refuel, i warmly suggest to have a Gazda burger in Pizza and Burger Vana. They have a several comfortable seats outside, its quick and tasty. However, dont try to buy grocery after 6, shops are closed in the evening.

    Beautiful area especially in early June (15-30) when it's not overrun by tourists. Great for families and larger groups with many activities for each generation. Recommended visits: spa treatment at the Grand Hotels at Kempinski, Grand Hotel, and Hotel Lominca; hiking or taking a cable car to the 'plesa'--mountain lakes.
