The accommodation always provided a private cab, when we needed one. The food in the restaurant was good but not great.

Is the 👌 place to stay in Nungwi. The hotel is new, very well made, clean and comfortable- feels like home. The view is incredible and the beach is with white soft sand. The island has a lot of problems with electricity but the hotel has its own generator and there are no blackouts.
The owner and the staff are the best, very helpful and really nice. Tasty breakfast, good coffee and tea, delicious fresh and fruits.
We travel with our 2 years old daughter and Ahmed, the owner, was a real medical suport for us ( good hospital, medicine, transport and a lot of smiles and hug for her). He is there to help you with everything.
They also arrange a big, big surprise for my birthday. I felt like they are my Zanzibar family.
There is nothing, but nothing to complain about in this place.
All in all a perfect experience!

The bungalows were recently renovated with genuine care and passion from the owners earning a perfect 10 out of 10 from us ! The location was perfect, offering a small oasis of peace in a bustling area. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. The cleanliness of the bungalows was impeccable. The staff were friendly, attentive and always ready to assist with a smile on their faces. A bonus was the presence of cute kitties roaming around, adding to the charm of the place. In another word, our stay was just perfect, and we cherished every minute of it. Highly recommended for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.

Out of curiosity, we asked if it was possible to make a reservation, and to our surprise, we were offered the chance to stay as one of the first guests, as it had just opened for a test run before the official opening.
The hotel is beautifully located – right by the ocean, surrounded by greenery, which instantly puts you in a relaxed mood.
The rooms are spacious, very clean, and decorated with taste. The bed was very comfortable, and the terrace overlooking the garden and the water was perfect for a morning coffee.
The staff deserves a special mention – always smiling and helpful.
It’s the kind of place you just want to come back to. Comfort, peace, and beautiful views – I definitely recommend it!

The hotel is not right on the beach but the beach is very close, it is a walking distance or you can also use a free bike. That was actually the reason why we selected this hotel as you may use bikes to get to some other nearest locations/beaches without any extra cost. Still, you probably need to be aware that during the day it will be very hot and a bike adventure might be a challenge, and at night the road will be the darkest place on Earth. If you plan to use the bikes bring your own light. The ones at the hotel didn't have any lights which seemed to be a rule on Zanzibar.

We had 4 accommodations in Zanzibar, this was the 3rd stop and we were very satisfied. The beach is simply phenomenal, brutally beautiful. You can also splashing in the ocean at low tide. The water was cooler than on the east coast, "only" 29 degrees, while in Jambiani it was 33-34 degrees, but still quite warm. The ocean bed deepened earlier than in the east, but the water was cleaner, there were fewer aquatic plants and less trash on the beach than on the east coast. We were in one of the upstairs rooms overlooking the ocean, it was absolutely fine, like new, not worn, everything was correct and clean, and the cleaning was perfect. We absolutely loved the restaurant on the beach with an ocean view, with sand on the floor, which we haven't experienced before, but we loved it, we were amazed to be able to eat barefoot in the sand.
I liked that almost every night there was a show after dinner. We were very satisfied with the behavior of the waiters and other staff, they were all very nice and smiling. I liked that the manager man of the hotel himself paid attention to everything, interestingly, if we had a problem, he was there immediately and helped to solve it (I have no idea how he knew it immediately and showed up immediately :) ). The food wasn't very varied, but we always found something we liked, and anyway we didn't go there to spoil our beach body. :)
The hotel is nicely designed, cozy, the night lighting on the trunks of the palm trees... I liked that you could park with the car, and I liked that we got everywhere quickly, and our favorite restaurant, the Italian Mamma Mia, was also accessible by walking along the beach. :) The Maasai were not as intrusive as many wrote here, we told them "no thank you" and then they moved on. I liked that there is a small bazaar street on both sides of the hotel, where you can easily buy all souvenirs.

We arrived around 9am, the staff welcomed us for a drink, we were able to have breakfast instead of the last day (breakfast was included in our room) which was highly appreciated after a long trip. We were able to check in early and the room was just beyond our imagination: it was perfect overlooking the ocean. It was perfect for the sunsets too.
Additionally, the staff welcomed us also with a bottle of prosecco which tasted great.
During the stay, staff were very nice. We also took a spa and at times it felt as there were 4 hands working on my back. She was good.
Swimming pool, direct access to the beach was wonderful.
It is not noisy, yet you have everything at walking distance..
Simply the best hotel on the beach in zanzibar.

Pefectly located right next to the beach. Probably the best butique hotel in that area of Zanzibar. Calm, tranquil, very private atmosphere. Place to hide from crowds although relatively close to all you need. Very luxury with local taste. Well managed. Great polite staff and good restaurants.

The vibes are great — everything you need is nearby, including shops, restaurants, and tour offices.
Restaurants on the beach tend to be a bit pricey, but if you take a short walk into the side streets, you’ll find places offering the same quality food at much more reasonable prices.
What I didn’t like were the beach boys — they’re nice and friendly, but can be a bit annoying as they keep trying to sell things. They’re not too pushy, but it’s hard to relax when someone approaches you every couple of minutes. The only time you can truly enjoy some peace is early in the morning.
Important note : you have to strongly negotiate the prices and people are very nice and easy going
Try to learn few words from their language they will be super happy :)

Matemwe was nice - the beach part.
Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it.
We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip.
Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough.
The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to...
Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to Nungwi, especially the south part. Even in low tide it was easy to take a swim. Also the beach here is wider and feel less crowded. As on the complete stretch there were many people trying to sell you stuff but on the south part not so many ”permanent” sales people other than the ones having sheds. The Maasai roaming around are friendly but just say no with a smile and most will not be persistent in their effort to sell you something..

Generally, a lovely and intimate establishment with staff that care for your personal needs. The manager is so friendly and always wants to know how the guests are doing. The most beautiful sunrises. The performances add to the spice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I cannot describe what experience we had.
I cannot describe what experience we had. Not only location and kitchen are extraordinary fantastic, Pradeep and his team fulfilled any of our wishes, they fulfilled wishes even not expressed yet, even not wished yet !
We travelled throughout the world with my wife but NOWHERE we found as friendly, welcoming, helpful and positive staff as Pradeep's is !!!

Many restaurants and beach bars , next to Badolina Bungalows . Good prices and good food at Baraka restaurant and Nanasi restaurant. And , also , at Zava restaurant.
For excursions I recommend Yussufu , very nice guy and good prices .

Matemwe is ideal for relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family. Matemwe is near Mnemba island 🏝️ for swimming with dolphins 🐬 .
We rode bicycles 🚲 around the village and the place felt very safe.
There are few alternative places for lunch or dinner.
Not too far from stone town.

If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean...
If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean waters and minimal tides, Kendwa is the best place in Zanzibar. The beach is the most spacious and greatest on the island and the village provides all the necessities you would need. With many tours and water activities offered on the beach you would hardly need to move anywhere else. It is also a walkable distance to Nungwi during low tide if anyone is interested in a more bustily environment.

The nearby beaches are scenic, but there are some important things to consider. The ocean is full of sea urchins, making swimming risky without proper footwear. During the day, low tide pulls the water far from the shore, so swimming may not always be possible. If you walk toward the reef, expect to be approached frequently by local beach vendors, which can feel intrusive — especially when you're clearly not carrying money. Local security presence is minimal, so don't expect much intervention in these situations. It's best to come prepared and manage your expectations if you're looking for a peaceful swim.

Truly enjoyed the pristine beach and the laid back nature of the place. Totally enjoyed several meals at Fish Restaurant which were absolutely delicious. I tried Kingfish, Changu, Perch, White Snapper, Prawns etc. The seafood was phenomenal. We also enjoyed seeing the turtles and the artwork at several curio shops. Also enjoyed an early morning boat ride seeing the dolphins. I can't believe how fast time went by. Looking forward to visiting Zanzibar again.
