Don't think twice and BOOK! Is the 👌 place to stay in Nungwi. The hotel is new, very well made, clean and comfortable- feels like home. The view is incredible and the beach is with white soft sand. The island has a lot of problems with electricity but the hotel has its own generator and there are no blackouts. The owner and the staff are the best, very helpful and really nice. Tasty breakfast, good coffee and tea, delicious fresh and fruits. We travel with our 2 years old daughter and Ahmed, the owner, was a real medical suport for us ( good hospital, medicine, transport and a lot of smiles and hug for her). He is there to help you with everything. They also arrange a big, big surprise for my birthday. I felt like they are my Zanzibar family. There is nothing, but nothing to complain about in this place. All in all a perfect experience!

We love this place! They welcomed us with lovely flower arrangements up on our arrival, and local fruits. The room was clean and well kept. The place is quiet and relaxing. The food was great, everything fresh and a large choice. Now for the service, everyone went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We celebrated our wedding aniversary and they were very intentional in preparing our moment. Thank you so much Bovly, Edwin, Dori, Edina, Lucy and all the staff members (sorry I don’t know all the names). We recomend this place 300%

The entire property is really well laid out, with trees around the pool that give it a really warm and intimate feeling but also provide much-needed shade if you burn easily like I do. The food area and swing seats are inviting and relaxing, so it's a real oasis. The rooms are light and comfortable with good air conditioning. They are also remarkably sound proof, with some of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in in Tanzania. The owners and staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful, and I love the resident kittens they have taken in. The food was good and breakfast was filling and tasty. It's well located in that the beach and shops are in very easy walking distance, but it isn't impacted by the hustle and bustle or the noise that is common in other venues. A really delightful find, we will certainly be back!

Everything was incredible. From The welcoming staff who fetched us at the airport, to the amazing owner and his lovely wife, the cleaning staff, restaurant staff, security, and grounds staff were all simply amazing. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are huge and it feels like home. Beautifully located on the beach and what makes this hotel so special is the presence of the manager and the amazing staff! We have rarely felt as comfortable as we do here and we have never experienced such an attentive and present manager and we have stayed in many luxury hotels. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive and eager. Our flight was postponed to very late, the Manager Tuan Thasleem Juhara knew that we had to do our checkout the next day and offered us a free late checkout including dinner! We were able to stay in our room until late, enjoy our last day to the fullest at the beach, watch the last sunset, have a shower in our room and enjoyed our last dinner with no rush and then checed out. Simply fantastic and so generous! From the staff at the reception, in the restaurant, bars, gardeners, room cleaners to the manager they are all great and go the extramile! Thank you all for doing such a great job and making us fall in love with you! You really miss these people when you leave this place! Hakuna Matata!

Special thank you to Mr. Jabili at the desk and all the staff. We arrived around 9am, the staff welcomed us for a drink, we were able to have breakfast instead of the last day (breakfast was included in our room) which was highly appreciated after a long trip. We were able to check in early and the room was just beyond our imagination: it was perfect overlooking the ocean. It was perfect for the sunsets too. Additionally, the staff welcomed us also with a bottle of prosecco which tasted great. During the stay, staff were very nice. We also took a spa and at times it felt as there were 4 hands working on my back. She was good. Swimming pool, direct access to the beach was wonderful. It is not noisy, yet you have everything at walking distance.. Simply the best hotel on the beach in zanzibar.

Everything!!! The food (breakfast, lunch & dinner) was exceptional! The staff were all super friendly. The resort is beautiful, clean, beds so comfortable with 2 x pillows p/person with different softness! There are 2 pools and 2 restaurants. The beach was always clean and we always felt welcomed & were looked after all the time 🩷 Nothing was a problem. Everybody was extremely accommodating. They offer lots of activities one of them ‘Reef walking’ which I recommend. There’s lots of activities for the kids as well which keeps them entertained. It was my birthday and I was surprised with a cake and staff sang for me including the live band during dinner.Very thoughtful and nice of them. By the time I retired to my room,another surprise was waiting. They made up the bedroom beautifully with flowers and candles and wrote a happy birthday with my name. The manager Rakeesh ( I hope I spelt his name correctly) was also very nice and arranged some entertainment at The Pavilion Restaurant . Upon checkout,we had missed breakfast and Benjamin was kind enough to offer us pizza. Thank you to all the staff at The Residence. You made my stay beautiful. Also the privacy of having your own pool was really nice.

Tulia was an absolute beauty- luxurious. The staff service was top, the details on the building, the place is soo serene. I can’t praise it enough… it was calming. Michaelle treats you like you are her only guest- with much care and attention. They do fine dining so there is two options to pick on for main course each day- which might be limiting for some. It was not the case for us. We loved Tulia and hope to be back again next time in Zanzibar!

The vibes are great — everything you need is nearby, including shops, restaurants, and tour offices. Restaurants on the beach tend to be a bit pricey, but if you take a short walk into the side streets, you’ll find places offering the same quality food at much more reasonable prices. What I didn’t like were the beach boys — they’re nice and friendly, but can be a bit annoying as they keep trying to sell things. They’re not too pushy, but it’s hard to relax when someone approaches you every couple of minutes. The only time you can truly enjoy some peace is early in the morning. Important note : you have to strongly negotiate the prices and people are very nice and easy going Try to learn few words from their language they will be super happy :)

Paje, beautiful place and beach, plenty of restaurants both on the beach and on the road. The only downside is that the beach is in the shade by 16:30 and very high and low tides makes taking a dip complicated !

A peaceful and welcoming town with a strong sense of community and a safe, relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in a peaceful part of town, where there were noticeably fewer street vendors selling beads and souvenirs compared to other areas. Matemwe was nice - the beach part.

Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it. We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip. Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough. The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

Our stay was amazing and peaceful.

Our stay was amazing and peaceful. The staff was funny and very friendly. Big thanks to Jana and her staff, Lameck in the restaurant section and Janet in housekeeping was so sweet and they looked after us at our 8-night stay. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to...

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to Nungwi, especially the south part. Even in low tide it was easy to take a swim. Also the beach here is wider and feel less crowded. As on the complete stretch there were many people trying to sell you stuff but on the south part not so many ”permanent” sales people other than the ones having sheds. The Maasai roaming around are friendly but just say no with a smile and most will not be persistent in their effort to sell you something..

This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten...

This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten track... a village, by the sea, with an increasing number of resorts being added. I hope it does not lose its charm to the crowds. This is a quiet, special place.

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from Forodhani, and the journey can feel quite long—particularly if you have just arrived in Zanzibar. The drive is somewhat uncomfortable due to the condition of the road, which consists largely of worn, uneven tarmac. Additionally, the area lacks local street food options, leaving nearby hotels—most of which are high-end and expensive—as the primary dining choices. As someone who genuinely enjoys the rich and flavorful cuisine of Stone Town, I found the food in the area to be rather bland and not reflective of its price point.

I loved that it was a proper reflection of the Island in that you took home the beauty of the place and kindness of the people. It was not loud or noisy and had very few touristy hotels and vendors hassling you
