I would never book with booking.com ever again they don't care about your safety or how clean the property is. They try to get as much money as they can. Like$199 more for an early check in. I am in week three of my dispute with them. No resolution in site. The problem we had Black mold in the house broken glass in the back yard, no coffee pot, wore out stained couches, TV that didn't work. Save your money and headache and book with someone reliable. This is not the Laughlin of prior visits. I haven't been there since COVID hit and apparently it did a number on this town. A couple of the hotels have shut down. There was no one playing on the river. Our view of Mesquite is entirely based at Casa Blanca. We actually leave our home in North Las Vegas to come here for a getaway and to use the spa. We came for the Star Train and were not disappointed by the trip. Definitely check out the Nevada Northern Railway when in Ely. They offer a number of different train rides, and the self-guided walking tour is also worthwhile. The Star Train is especially lovely, taking passengers out to the desert at night to a star viewing area, with telescopes and accompanied by professional astronomers. Pahrump is a bit of a drive from Las Vegas but it is worth the drive if you want to leave the glitz behind. We were in the area for the Ron Fellows Driving School but we did try to explore the area while we were there.
