A small, authentic Ryokan on a quiet street. A very good value.

More hooks in the bathroom, for towels and a robe would be nice.

We shared the room as a trio, so space was tight. The accommodations were a very good value, so we did not compare it with more expensive hotels we had stayed in. The maid service was outstanding! Fresh sheets and towels, and a comfortable foam pad under our futons, were appreciated.

No complaints. We adored our stay.

Our stay at Edo Sakura was absolutely delightful. The staff were universally warm and welcoming, fussing over our daughter and doing everything possible to make our stay pleasant. We adored our ryokan-style room, the traditional breakfast options each morning, and the on-site "onsen" for a soak after a long day. The rooms are surprisingly spacious, with plenty of room for a pair of futons, our luggage, and an area for our daughter to play. While not especially interesting, the surrounding neighbourhood has plenty of cafes, restaurants, and convenience stores. It is also a short walk from Iriya Street Station. From the location, you can also walk to Ueno Park and Asakusa.

    - We booked a western style room and the floors in the room were very beat up. There was also only one chair in the room, we would have really liked another one so you could sit together on chairs instead of on the bed. - We did not enjoy the neighbourhood that much. The hotel was located close to Iriya station on the Hibiya line, which was convenient. However, there was not a lot going on in the neighbourhood itself (very difficult to find places to go out at night) so you had to go elsewhere for that.

    - The staff is very nice - The room is very clean and cleaned every day of your stay - The hotel was easy to reach by public transportation

Futon beds were a little hard on my back which I had injured, but this was not a surprise because we knew what we had booked. The team at Edo Sakura provided me additional mattresses immediately so I was comfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were so helpful and the food was fantastic. The location was great being walking distance to the train station. Our room was very clean and tidied each day by the staff.

We were going to arrive a little late (8pm) from Shinjuku station and so had asked for some local dining options close to the hotel since we needed help explaining to the izakayas that one guest was vegetarian. We had been able to do this at other hotels and it worked out fine. For some reason, we didn't get much assistance on this front and were asked to pick up food on the way as most restaurants are "local and usually busy."

The Edo Sakura is a gem tucked away in a rather residential part of Tokyo. For us, it offered something quite different from the regular Tokyo hotel experience: it was a chance to take a short break from the bustle of the city and enjoy some of the quieter and quaint elements on offer. That said, it isn't far from the metro station. The staff were great. The rooms were tidy and elegant. Sleeping on the floor may take getting used to for some though they do offer an extra mattress for support if needed. Breakfast was ok. We didn't use the private hot bath as we'd just been to Kawaguchiko where we got more than our fill of the hot springs. We enjoyed walking around in Taito and particularly liked visiting Ueno park and Yanaka. Don't think we would've visited if we were staying in the usual spots. All in all, a very tasteful ryokan-style hotel for anyone looking for something a little different in Tokyo,

Would’ve been handy to have a microwave in the foyer to use.

We loved our room! Authentic Japanese experience. Breakfast was delicious and wholesome. Futons were comfy. Room was always cleaned immaculately. The rooms have real tatami mat floors (not plastic like in other hotels). The onsen was nice and relaxing.

Only one seat, so the other person sat on the bed; and limited space to put suitcases and it's contents. This is Japan, so to be expected.

For our first visit Japan, this was a great place to stay. Close to the metro, in a fairly quiet neighbourhood. The bathroom was compact, but it had everything we needed. There were lifts to all the floors, rooms had electrical outlet points and we were able to open the windows and at night a blind blocked out the light. A private bath is available, which we did not use. Washing facilities are available and the staff were very helpful in all regards. Rooms were soundproof. I would stay here again!

There's a private bath tub in the room itself, but it was a little small. We opted for a private booking of the onsen instead.

It was nice to experience a traditional Japanese room during our visit to Japan, the staff was also very pleasant. They helped to hold on to our larger luggages for 3 days, FOC while we went to Naoshima/Teshima. We did a private booking of the onsen which was a good experience. It's also close to Iriya station, but about a 12min walk from the other nearby station depending on the train line you are using.

Staff felt like family, we loved having breakfast every day in the communal area. Staff went above and beyond to help us and provide recommendations. They were also wonderful and accommodating to our 9 month old, she had a fantastic time. The private baths were lovely, we had one every night as a family and it was such a nice way to end the day. The location was a little further out but we loved it, nice and peaceful but still easy to get to the sights by walking or public transport. The room was cosy and comfortable.
