Quick look: The room was really nice and big, the food was great, and the staff was so nice. The outdoor hot spring was my favorite. It was like a slice of nature to enjoy while you soaked. I found the best hours to go were just before 4pm and in the morning after breakfast. There weren't a lot of people then. My room had a great view of the river and when I went to eat, the Kansui restaurant had a fantastic view of the outside garden (which you can also walk around in). I really liked that I could hear the river from my room. I stayed for two nights. The food was different both evenings and both mornings but all delicious. The staff that served it took care of everything like turning on the burners and serving you rice and tea. It really allowed you to focus on eating and enjoying the scenery. It's a lot of food, but all healthy and worth trying, especially if you're new to Japan. I think the staff spoke English too, if you need the English support. All around, it was a really great place. Amazing value and just so peaceful.

Came here to relax after visiting family in the area. The greetings on arrival set the positive tone to our stay. The onsen facilities are excellent. Having a 24 hour onsen with a panoramic view was a great feature. The breakfast was very nice - having both western and Japanese options. We did not reserve dinner with our booking, as we saw it as an opportunity to explore the town, but I do wonder what we missed. The room was very spacious for the 4 of us. The fish in the koi pond were very impressive! I ran into two unexpected situations while there, and Suimeikan responded in an impressive way. One in our party from outside Japan ran into an issue with our room. We tried one night in the room, but after she still had difficulty after that one night, we asked if we could switch rooms for our next and last night. They put us into another room right away that fixed the issue. And then I left a shirt inadvertently there which they shipped to me in Tokyo (I paid for the shipping on arrival). For both those reasons, I would rate the service and hospitality here as superb.

The place was pretty good. I ended up having the whole bunk room all for myself, so I was able to rearrange my luggage to travel to my next destination without bothering anyone. The host was so kind. As a solo traveller I look for small talks and interaction with local people and I was able to have a chat with him. The location is pretty convenient as it's less than 5 minutes walk to the train station. I only stayed one night, but I'd come back if I had the chance.

The onsen was amazing and beautiful with views of the mountainsides, and the opening times are very generous to allow guests maximum time to relax and enjoy. The dinner kaiseki was also an incredible experience and extremely tasty. The service from the staff was also incredible. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again in the future.

There are 3 different onsens, 1 at each of their buildings for us to try. Very relaxing experience. The hotel location is amazing. It is walkable within 2 3mins of the Gero station but there is also an available shuttle bus at Gero station if u have too many luggages. The breakfast spread is fabulous too with many varieties of japanese dish in bite sizes portions to try out, help with preventing food wastage also. My kids were both excited to sleep on the prepared futon in the ryokan style room

Lovely hotel overlooking Gero Onsen. We had only booked bed and breakfast, and our rooms were well appointed and spacious, with views overlooking Gero. The Japanese breakfast was plentiful and good quality. The public Onsen had inside and outside pools which were spacious and relaxing, and very quiet when we visited. There is also a spacious bar, where you can use the Karaoke. The service throughout our stay was excellent.
