It was absolutely exceptional, from the food, to the staff, to the service and hot springs, everything was simply immaculate. You cannot get any better than this.

This ryokan style hotel was one of our best experiences in Japan. The views over the islands of Matsushima were superb - truly one of the 3 great views of Japan! Our room overlooked the famous Fukuurabashi bridge through a picturesque screen of the twisted pine trees that make this view so iconic. The kaiseki style meals were superb - delicious and beautifully presented. Each dish was a delight of discovery, awe and wonder. We enjoyed a private onsen bath with sunset views and also visited each of the other public baths over the next day. The views over the bay are simply stunning.

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Beautiful property. Wonderful staff. All very helpful and friendly. The public baths were wonderful. Outside baths were 2 different scenarios, one was gorgeous with five separate river rock soaking areas overlooking the river and forest, the other was 1 wooden tub in a small pavilion. Women have the beautiful spot afternoon/evening and swap with the men in the morning. Our room was very large and comfortable with a balcony and private soaking tub. The buffet style dinner and breakfast were delicious. Huge variety of freshly prepared foods. All you could eat and drink, beer, wine, various alcohol, sake, in the restaurant. The reception area had a piano, wood burning central fireplace to sit around. There were small tables with various board games, a library, snacks, beer and wine. Comfortable seating overlooking the hillside that was lit up at night. Very romantic spot to go for a special night.

Suzukiya Ryokan offers a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 49 km of Sendai City Community Support Center and 47 km of the Site of Sendai Castle. With an open-air bath, the 3-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. The ryokan features family rooms. Onsen was high class, both inside and outside, Nice and hot too. Dinner and breakfast is a must, very nice traditional meal sets which was nicely presented with great service. Overall experience was so good we will ensure a return visit if it fits in with our travel route through our next trip to Japan. Lovely experience.

The place is quiet and very zen. It is perfect for those looking for peace and want to meditate. The onsen facilities are clean and heavenly. There was a private onsen in my room and I enjoyed it ALOT.

The ryokan provides a spa experience, with its sauna, hot spring bath and public bath. The accommodation features a lift, full-day security and luggage storage for guests. The staff was exceptionally nice and welcoming. They were prepared to deal with guests of the world via technology and an open-minded attitude. The food was a delicious collection of the local ocean's best and the service excellent and friendly. We had an amazing time there, especially for a first stop on our Japan journey. Thank you! :D

Located in Matsushima, 10 km from Shiogama Shrine, Matsushima Koumura features accommodation with a hot tub and a public bath. There is a private entrance at the ryokan for the convenience of those who stay. The ryokan provides rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Great hotel in Matsushima, loved my stay there! I arrived a little bit earlier than expected and the team helped me doing an early check-in. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Location is great too: it's a short walking distance to the city centre and also close to the Matsushima and Takagimachi JR stations. The hotel team was outstanding: the couple managing the ryokan are great and the rest of the team did a very very good job too. Very good value for money. Highly recommended!

The property is set 26 km from Entsuin Temple, 46 km from Sendai Toshogu and 47 km from Rakuten Seimei Park Miyagi. The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. This local ryokan has real character, decorated from walls to ceiling with colourful posters and various toys of Japan, from classic to manga. The manager couple are just as nice. She had written out a welcome with basic information in Spanish for me, as my reservation shows it as country of origin. The room is comfortable, complete with towel and pyjamas, plus a water kettle and cup with teabags. If you're on foot, it's 27 min to Ishinomaki station and 18 min to Haneda station- the latter gets you the Matsushima-Kaigan.
