We’ve also ordered a delicious Japanese style breakfast. The public bath is actually two rooms that have a lock, so you could go inside with your family together. This was very nice for me because I’ve been traveling with my partner and a 1,5y son. The area is quiet and nice. There is a temple you need to go uphill. The area is mountainous with lots of stairs. You take the cable car to get there. Keep in mind that there are no supermarkets there, you need to go down by cable car to Ikoma. But there are some restaurants and cafes so you won’t get hungry. I think it’s even more beautiful in fall, you can enjoy momiji. We’ve stayed in late March and the weather was not the best, like 10-15 C. So we’ve used a heater in the room and in the bath. Don’t hesitate to ask the owner to show you how to use it

The ryokan also offers free use of bicycles. Kofuku-ji is 1.1 km from Musashino, while Kasuga Taisha is 300 metres from the property. The nearest airport is Osaka Itami Airport, 39 km from the property. Perfect location, combined with traditional hospitality

The traditional room was amazing and very spacious, with very clean facilities and a small balcony for a relaxing bath outside. The onsen upstairs was very clean and very inviting with exceptional facilities. The staff were amongst the most friedly people we met on our travels around Japan providing us with a guide on popular routes to explore around Nara and offering additional services such as taking a photo of us and a free gift bag. The traditional breakfast was incredible, providing us with a very memorable experience.

Offering public baths, Sarusawaike Yoshidaya is situated in front of Sarusawa-ike Pond. Kofuku-ji Temple is just a 2-minute walk away. Free WiFi is available on site.

They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The facilities were amazing as well, beautiful, clean and rich in culture. The room was comfortable, the private onsen was free to use and really beautiful. The chef special dinner and breakfast was delicious, some of the best food we had while in Japan. Well done to this wonderful place, I would recommend it to anyone who is visiting Nara. Remember to have dinner there!

We really enjoyed our stay here, the beds were particularly comfortable and we adored the kotatsu, looking into buying one in the future hahaha. The breakfast was fab, really appreciated the more traditional Japanese breakfast! Also thanks so much for bringing us our forgotten items after we had left for a few minutes, our forgetful selves are very appreciative! :)

Basic Japanese-style rooms overlook the temple compound, and feature a tatami (woven mat) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. They are fitted with air conditioning and a safe. Outstanding traditional property! Special arrival to Gyokuzoin, accessible by bus or taxi, welcomed by monks and welcomed to join the fire ceremony in the morning. Traditional room, onsen and meals. We highly recommend!

A 12-minute walk from the Kintetsu Nara Train Station, Hotel New Wakasa offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami (woven-straw) flooring. A spacious public bath and foot bath is available for guests to relax in. Free luggage before and after check-in is available on site. Free WiFi is available at the entire building. It is a very nice experience if you want to emerge into Japanese lifestyle. The food is excellent and the location just next to the deer park but also close to a bus and train station is great. The view from the room or top roof is stunning

Tsukihitei is located in the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Each guest room has a Japanese-style decor and offer panoramic forest views, traditional tatami (woven-straw) floors, and shoji paper screens. Not to miss. A true gem in the forest of Nara. Secluded and so so peaceful.

Featuring an open-air bath and views of quiet street, Ryokan Asukasou at the entrancne of Nara park is a recently renovated ryokan located in Nara, 1.8 km from Nara Station. It is set 20 km from Iwafune Shrine and provides a lift. There is a terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. I really enjoyed everything, it was a great opportunity to get to know Japanese culture! Incredibly friendly staff. The hotel is located near the entrance to the deer park.

Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is right next to the ryokan. Wakakusayama Mountain, offering spectacular views of Nara, is a 10-minute drive away. Todai-ji Temple is a 7-minute drive. Everything was what I would expect from what was provided in their advertisement. I had a great time there.
