From the moment I arrived the staff did an amazing job, nothing was any trouble and always a smile.. add to this an amazing building and decor you have an amazing hotel. I made the mistake of booking a place in the fort for the social aspect that was more expensive and half as nice in every department, probably forgo the 3 nights in the new place and return to Taavetti, you won't regret booking i promise you.

At Serenity Boutique - Unawatuna guests are welcome to take advantage of a hot tub. Bike hire and car hire are available at this hotel and the area is popular for cycling. Perfect place for a family getaway. a a traveller i have paid more for the luxury stuff hotel but this serenity gave me all for this budget. The rooms are cozy and comfortable with a beautiful view .Dinner and breakfast were excellent, Highly recommended.

Whichever room option you select, you are guaranteed an amazing view of the ocean. The hotel is situated next to probably the most amazing beach as well. You can swim here for hours on end as the waves are sort of calm because of the natural breakwater created by the rocks around. The service is immaculate. We had butler-like service answering to our every need. The waiting staff during the meals were also super friendly and attentive. We loved taking all of our meals at the property. The food was also delicious and one of our highlights during the stay – particularly the dinner from the a la carte menu. This hotel is just one of those we can have more of in the coast of Sri Lanka. The people, food and views all combined to make our stay super memorable.

Such peaceful views across the lawn onto the beach through ancient trees. It’s on a very rare patch of Sri Lankan beach with no other hotels or restaurants, just the local fishermen. It’s a magical stretch of beach with hardly any tourists on it. The powerful waves means its not ideal for swimming. But if you walk around the corner 15 min away there is a calmer huge beach, but much more crowded and built up . I did have a quick dip every day, but better to swim around the corner . On the way is a rock jacuzzi pool perfect for young kids, and very popular with the locals at the week end. I discovered it’s co owned/managed by a norwegian so the material standards are really high, beautiful local furniture, gorgeous interior decoration, sophisticated simplicity or is it Asian elegant ‘hygge’ ? The food is delicious, beautifully presented with a choice of local and international dishes, fairly priced as well. As a solo traveller it’s a real haven. The staff are particularly kind and attentive. The manager even called me at 22.00 when I wasn’t back to check all was ok.

Epic end to a Sri Lankan journey in a truly surreal small luxury hotel I had the pleasure of staying at this stunning luxury enclave overlooking the surreal ocean and Koggala lake during my memorable trip to Sri Lanka. I encountered a smooth check-in with warm greetings and a refreshing homemade drink made out of garden plucked ingredients. How lovely! Chef met me on arrival and made sure the favorite Sri Lankan curries and flavors are well heard and looked after. Room was thoughtfully designed with every detail being looked at, something you would expect a luxury resort of this level to be of. It smelled of Cinnamon and towels / bed linen were so fluffy and fresh. Restaurant The Dutch served warm, freshly cooked meals. Their Coconut Prawn Curry was the best. Service by Akila and team was impeccable. After lunch I was ready for a day by their amazing jungle pool surrounded by lush green overlooking the magical ocean. It was really relaxing and again the drinks and food served by the lounge was top notch. I had the most rejuvenating treatment at their Spa and the therapist was so diligent. All areas were clean and tidy with manicured gardens. I felt like I was in a very special place. Next day morning I ascended a small peak close to the resort with their in-house guide Nuwan on a very special tour of his family temple where he drew the life story of Lord Buddha. They also had few more experiences made in-house. A thoughtful addition to the stay.
