Opened in July 2018, Hótel Kría is situated in Vík. Among the various facilities are a garden and a bar. There is a restaurant. The black sand beaches begin about 5 minutes' walk from the hotel.

This eco-friendly hotel, 30 minutes’ drive from Reykjavik, is surrounded by nature in the town of Ölfus. It offers free use of an outdoor wooden hot tub and arranges Icelandic horse riding tours on site. Hot tubs were great, but maybe a bit too hot.

Some of Geirland’s cosy rooms are set in individual cottages in the garden. Free Wi-Fi is available in the main building. Great location in nature. Room with a good size and in perfect condition. Had sheep as neighbours. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.

The erupting Great Geysir is a 10 minute-drive away. Thingvellir National Park is 35 minutes from Gullfoss Hotel. The Kjölur highland road is 2 km away and connects northern and southern Iceland. Reykjavik city centre is 90 minutes away. We only stayed for one night and it was exactly what we needed for a quick stop on the route. The view from the room was very nice both in the morning and in the evening. For dinner we had asparagus soup, grilled chicken and dessert. It was filling, not heavy, and super tasty. In the morning the breakfast was alright. Not the most diverse but compared to other hotels in Iceland there were quite a lot of options. The tea and coffee station in the restaurant was permanently there, and even had cups for to go. The staff was friendly and eager to make pur stay as good as possible. They offered to knock on our door if there’d be Northern Lights, and they did.

Litli Geysir Hotel is on Route 35, located only 200 metres from the world famous Geysir hot spring in Iceland’s Haukadalur Valley. It offers an in-house restaurant as well as free access to WiFi and free parking.
