The room offered a sight into a traditional Japanese room, and it was equipped with kimono and other amenities to further make this experience more memorable. I would really recommend the dinner, with a lot of tasty, traditional Japanese dishes. The onsen was another strong point, perfect for taking a few relaxing hours amidst the crazy amount of walks of the last days. Also, the quality of service is something that stood out.

The rooms are large, the coffee and food are delicious, and the hotel is peaceful. It's very pleasant and comfortable. The staff is attentive and friendly. I liked the Japanese bath. The hotel is only three minutes from the sea. I loved it.

Incredibly relaxing stay, beautiful property and location. Outdoor onsen was so relaxing and the staff were very accommodating. Pastries for breakfast were delicious

Offering free WiFi throughout the property, the ryokan is soundproof and has a hot spring bath. The man working the ryokan was so nice and accommodating! All facilities were clean and the onsen is nice because it is basically private. There is tea in the room and coffee in the mornings! The beds are also so comfortable.

Attractions in the area include Hakone Lalique Museum, 300 metres away, or Venetian Glass Museum, located 800 metres from the property. They offered twice the private hot spring when we asked it. The dinner was excellent and the room really nice and comfortable. All in all, very polite staff and organized.

Located in the Sengokubara Onsen district of Hakone, Hakone Hoshi no Akari is 3.2 km from Hakone Lalique Museum. Featuring a terrace, this 3-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with a private bathroom. The accommodation features room service and ticket service for guests. We booked a suite with a private onsen. This was on a balcony with a mountain view. This meant all family members of both sexes could use the onsen at once (in swimsuits!) The dinners and breakfasts were exceptional, in quality, variety and quantity of food. There was a 600m downhill walk from the bus stop but the hotel provided transport each morning back to the bus stop. The location was good - short distance only from Lake Ashi One of the staff members took great pains to explain everything in English when we arrived.

Beautiful hotel , great rooms , spacious , clean , well equipped , fabulous public baths , there are two of them , complimentary dumplings in the evening , and ramen later at night . Friendly and helpful staff, we were given a ride straight to the train station . I highly recommend anyone visiting Hakone to stay there.

Just a 5-minute walk from Hakone Yumoto Train Station, Masutomi Ryokan features open-air hot spring baths, spacious guest rooms and free Wi-Fi. Guests can reserve the rooftop bath at an additional fee. On-site parking is available for free. The mama-chan greeted us warmly when we arrived, she doesn't speak any English but some of the employees do. The room was generous and traditional, and the onsens were amazing the water felt great and soothed all our aches. HOT TIP . Ask to use the couples onsen on the roof for an additional 2000 yen to bathe under the stars
