Let me start with an advise; when you come to Japan go to Kyushu and stay in this hotel. My wife and I enjoy our last evening here (we stayed 5 nights) and this hotel is excellent. The location, the room (we stayed in the suite), the food, but most of all the excellent staff. The staff make you feel welcome, the service is warm and personal, yet professional at the same time. They know who you are from the moment you arrive. One of the best performances we experienced and we travel a lot. My wife has a rare allergy and they provided special meals for here. Exceptional. The hotel is also very clean and is recently renovated. The onsen in the room and the public one are comfortabel / beautiful. The location is perfect to visit Mount Aso, Kumamoto, Beppu, Oita, Takachiho gorge et cetera. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Boasting spacious indoor and outdoor hot spring baths surrounded by lush greenery, Ryokan Wakaba provides Japanese-style accommodation in the peaceful mountain area. Free Wi-Fi is offered in the public area, and parking is available for free. This was my first ryokan experience and the staff took great care in explaining all the procedures and expectations to me :) They were very sweet and assisted me in any request. The room, while one of the smallest, had plenty of space and faced directly onto the river. The private onsen and public bath were great; I specially enjoyed the outdoor onsen. The food was of very good quality and plenty. The Kurokawa Onsen village is quaint for a short afternoon stroll.

Great location; quiet environment, close by to the city center and a big supermarket right around the corner. The apartment has all the facilities you need for a longer stay. Host is a great communicator and even offers intermediate cleaning during long stays.
The location is amazing. It is a bit far away from Kumamoto station but you're about a 10 minute walk away from the city center. The room was nice and quiet.
The location was very close to the castle and the city centre. The area was quiet during the night. For people to drive, the attached parking garage was nice and close and reasonably priced, with a discount from the hotel for using it.
Good location just across the river from the city center. Within 5-10 minutes walking you are in the shopping street. - The room itself is relatively spacious. It comes with an arm chair, a fridge and a hair dryer but no kettle. You can ask for a kettle at the front desk. - There are a couple of restaurants in the immediate area, most are in the city center though. - The staff was very friendly and helpful. - Private parking is offered at a fee. - The value you get is excellent.
Really good price! The hostel is simple but it was clean, the bed was comfortable and it is in a good location.
Location is good. Very close to the city center.
Everything, location and cleanliness in particular. Short walk to Kumamoto castle, city centre - Sakuramachi bus terminal and public transport. Staff are helpful and courteous
Location is quite good, city center is walkable, main station is a bit far esp with luggage.
If you're traveling within a budget and would like to spend a couple of days in Kumamoto, this is an accommodation option worth considering. Pricing is more than fair, the hotel is overall clean and well taken care of, and location is central enough.
