DD Guest House, a property with a bar, is set in Pakse, 400 metres from Wat Luang, less than 1 km from Pakse Bus station, as well as a 13-minute walk from Wat Phabat. Excellent value for money. It's an older guesthouse with basic facilities but with a fresh lick of paint. Exceptionally clean. Firm mattress but not super -hard so comfortable. Nice area out front for good breakfast or to sit and relax and talk to fellow travellers. Very nice and helpful French and Laotian couple.

Boasting a garden and a bar, Pakse Backpacker Hostel2023 is situated in Pakse, 200 metres from Wat Luang and 600 metres from Pakse Bus station. From the moment we arrived we were in good hands. When we asked about different trip options and bus tickets, they took a lot of time and patience to explain everything to us with great kindness. The room was clean, comfortable and not too cool and the shower was great! Finally a shower with enough water pressure :) They had a little puppy, very cute and playful.

Set in Pakse and within 300 metres of Wat Luang, Chato Hostel has a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi. Chato is by far a more relaxed place. Quiet but in the middle of restaurants and cafes. Situated in front of the night market, ATMs , Korean food, even a Thai coffee shop . Chato is your best option . Skip the trendy , pricy places, as they are not always the best. Sleep well at Chato .

Sanga Hostel is set in Pakse, less than 5 minutes' walk from Wat Luang and just 10 minutes' walk from the Kong River. Absolutely lovely place. The staff go above and beyond to help you. Free tea and bananas is such a lovely touch. We were able to leave our big bags whilst we did the Bolvean Loop, they gave us a number to text telling us to let them know the day before we were coming back so that they could save us a bed. The rooms are lovely and clean, beds are very big singles and air con is a dream. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. Lots of really sweet moments especially from the extremely lovely host who was really generous giving us left over cake and sweets to try. Honestly couldn't recommend more. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else if ever in Pakse again.

Athena Hotel provides comfortable rooms and an outdoor pool, a 10-minute walk from the centre of Pakse. It also has free Wi-Fi, which is available throughout the hotel. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The staff very friendly. I really enjoyed being able to come back each day and have a swim. I ate in the hotel most nights the meals on offer were fine as was the breakfast. It was easy enough to organise airport pick up and tours through the hotel.

We chose the more expensive 4,000 island tour expecting to see more. We spent 5 minutes at 2 waterfalls, which are impressive, in an 11 hour day and that was it! The rest of the day, 10hrs and 50 minutes was spent waiting for, or sitting on, old buses and vans. The much cheaper Bolonan plateau would have shown us villages, crafts and agriculture and been much better.
Decent restaurants and good to get convenience items, but not much to do directly in the town. Good hub for day-trips via motorcycle or tour, but expect to get really dirty if you do them via motorcycle as only the very largest of the main roads are paved outside of the town. Not much nature nearby, all flat areas have been cleared and converted to farmland. It takes a bit of work to get to areas with a bit of nature, but it's nice once you do so. Once you're out of the town the small villages vary from somewhat picturesque and mostly traditional to modern cement. Definitely worth exploring the countryside via motorcycle. Waterfalls are nice, but can be a bit crowded (by local standards).
I have been to Pakse a number of times, it backs onto the majestic Mekong River. I can thoroughly recommend both the Champasak Grand Hotel and the Pakse Hotel. There is a lovely market located in the centre of the town where you can buy nearly anything.
Pakse is slow and peaceful that is suitable for those who want to have a travel with slow-paced. Sitting and chilling on the banks of Mekong river where is the border between Laos and Thailand. You could feel the great of nature.
Unfortunately I was only in Pakse for 1 night. The city has lots to do and lots to offer, however isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing. Many come here to do the Pakse loop which is supposed to be great.
Pakse is a small, dirty town without a clear center. Few good restaurants, and few people speak English. You have to have a scooter to get anywhere. There are interesting places in the area but not many of them are properly developed. Rather, their best years are behind them. On my next visit to Pakse would like to avoid Pakse city.
