Offering a restaurant that serves a delectable spread of local and Western cuisine, Koimala Hotel is located at the center of a whale shark point 328 feet from the beach. Staff was very welcoming and took care of everything. Food was so delicious that it actually made me revise my previous prejudices against Asian/Indian food. Chicken curry here has nothing in common with the turmeric sadness you get in the West. Actually all the dishes from the curry list are fantastic. There is also a breakfast option with tuna salad and Indian bread that is the best. The snorkeling experience included in the price was very exciting. The hotel is located in the middle of a community, which helps you get a glimpse into the real life of people living on this island. There is also a kind of private beach at 10 minutes walking from the hotel. I believe you cannot get more value for money in the Maldives.

I liked both the hotel itself and its location. There was a beautiful beach nearby where you could swim and watch the sunrise. I took a hotel with breakfast included. It was prepared every morning) The manager also arranged for a transfer by speedboat to the island itself. It was very convenient: 2 hours on the road and I ended up on the island at the hotel!)

Trust all the positive reviews here, like I did, and you'll have an amazing stay here. There's not much to do on the island of Maamigili besides diving or snorkeling, but this hotel made my time on this island simply fantastic. I came here after a 5-star resort, and honestly didn't notice any difference in the quality of service :) Everything, from communication in the chat, organizing transfers to and from the island, absolute cleanliness and coziness of the room, was simply top-notch. The guys help with all questions, solve all problems, are extremely caring and friendly to their guests, and just great guys to talk to and be around. They'll advise, assist, organize, feed, and transport you. I'm honestly in love with this place and can confidently recommend it again and again.

The location is beautiful right at the beach, they have a certified dive center, clean waters, but we couldn't stay this time due to some difficulties we had to solve in another location. We consider to come back, when we have the time. We were shown the room and it was very nice with beach view and a balcony.
We had a fantastic one week stay at Holiday Island. All the staff were very helpful, smiling and always ready for our needs and wishes. The view from the bungalow was just like from a postcard. The whole island is continuously kept in an amazingly clean and neat condition. I can highly recommend to book it with full board meal plan. All breakfast, lunch and dinner were abundant. There is always many options to choose from. Unless you are on a very special diet your tummy will be full and happy. :D
It was a cheaper place to hire a boat ride to swim with whale Sharks. The food is limited on Mamagilli and the service is slow. Also, all restaurants people smoke at the tables which was not nice especially for young children. There is only one small section of beach for tourists, the rest of the beaches are full of rubbish. You don't feel very welcomed on Mamagilli we much more preferred staying on one of the other islands that has a resort. There is also no ATM for tourists on mamagilli. Interesting experience to stay on a local island.
It’s a local island and not very beautiful. There are other options for cheap accommodations on nearby local islands that will be about the same price or a little bit more, but it is worth it. Dhigurah island is much larger and the west is uninhabited with a huge sand bar and huge bikini beach.
My favorite places were snorkeling from the pier of the Italian restaurant, and the water villas we stayed in (also good for snorkelling, but the water is very shallow). We had half-board, and were so happy with the breakfast and dinner buffets that we never opted for anything extra. Getting around in Maamigli on foot was easy for us, but I understand we could have requested golf cart transportation as well. We preferred walking. I was a little concerned beforehand whether we'd be spending a fortune on drinking water (since we didn't have all-inclusive), but drinking water was provided daily by the housekeeping, so no problem at all. Next time I'll make an even bigger effort to avoid getting sunburned. We used 50 SPF sunblock and re-applied often, but lengthy snorkeling still got some of our backs.
You need maximum 3 days to complete all trips, any more than that would have to be someone who loves water sports as these are the main activities in this country, anyways. Bring a mosquito or any insect repellent, you will need these after a stroll on the shores or anywhere there are plants. Also have an anti-nausea pill if you are the seasick type. Taxis have a fixed price for each location, check that out. Alcohol in the resorts is expensive but then again that's all you got. Best to pay all meals or include dinner in your package as there are almost no restaurants outside, depending on the island, and if you find one it's either a chips or coffee spots.
