With mountain views, Ferney Nature Lodge is set in Mahébourg and has a restaurant, a shared lounge, bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and terrace. I selected Ferney as it was the closest hotel available to the airport and the nature reserve looked beautiful. I was unfortunately only able to stay for one night and arrived very late so was not able to do any of the walks or activities although the looked very nice. Ferney was helpful in arranging a driver to collect me from the reception in a 4x4 to take me to the lodge at 9:30pm as my flight came in late. They served me the full dinner and spared no details which was well received. Dinner was smoked marlin starter, amazing venison steak with mashed potatoes, veg and salad with brownie and coconut ice-cream. The bed was very comfortable, air conditioning appreciated, and there was absolute silence because of the remote nature of the property. Breakfast had a lovely spread of fresh fruit, yogurt, cold meats, cheese, jams and toast. You get an individual basket of two freshly baked croissants and pain au chocolate. Eggs of your choice were made to order. In my tiny time there, without venturing at all, I saw manycbirds, a rabbit and a mongoose. All staff were very pleasant, friendly, and went the extra mile. It is not the typical Mauritian beach holiday but a nevertheless wonderful, nature-filled experience.

The room and building are modern, especially for Mauritius standards. The location is nice and quiet and I felt safe at all times. Highlight of the stay are the hosts! They are so welcoming and making sure that you have a lovely stay. I can definitely recommend this accommodation.

With garden views, Auberge de Saint Aubin is set in LʼUnion and has a restaurant, room service, snack bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and terrace. Completely amazing! 10/10 Best hotel I stayed in Mauritus. The dinner and the breakfast were too notch, amazing food and service. Super green and beautiful all around. The people were super nice and you have access to the vanilla, rum and a farm for free if you stay there! I will recommend to anyone.

Set up on a historic tea plantation in Bois-Cheri, Bubble Lodge offers unique accommodation under the stars. Surrounded by nature it also boasts views of the adjacent lake. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and it was worth every penny. It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a whole package of activities and meals. When I arrived, I was a bit too early for check-in, so I was invited to do a tea tasting on a beautiful balcony overlooking the lake. While I sampled 8 different types of tea, I watched a family of wild boars trot past, and I couldn’t help but laugh when a monkey stole a box of tea from a neighboring table. When I was invited to my bubble lodge, I was blown away by the details - flower petals on the bed, stunning views of nature. It would be perfect for a honeymoon, but I also enjoyed it as a solo traveler. I spent my afternoon watching the animals from my bubble - monkeys, wild boars, a black swan. I also took a long walk around the lake. The dinner (included in the room reservation) was exquisite. Three delicious courses and plenty of vegetarian options. I also really liked the tea bread served with tea chutney. During my dinner, I watched Java deer just outside of the panoramic windows. After dinner, I had a beautiful nighttime walk back to my bubble, and I laid in bed watching the stars and listening to animals rustling in the trees. When I awoke in the morning, I found that a pair of Java deer were looking into my bubble, and the black swan was also right outside. I took a rain shower outdoors with a bit of actual rain mixed in. I had a delicious breakfast that consisted of crepes, an omelet, yogurt, juice, tea, and more of my favorite tea bread. Next I borrowed a bicycle from the lodge and rode it to the tea museum, where I learned all about tea, and then I took a guided tour of the Bois Cheri tea factory. At the end, I had yet another tea tasting, and then it was time to check out of my hotel. All-in-all, I had a perfect stay and I really hope that I will have an opportunity to come back someday. I want to give a special shout-out to Tina, who took really good care of me in the restaurant.

Set in Riambel, a few steps from Riambel Beach and 1.3 km from SSR Beach, Chalet Cardinal offers a private beach area and air conditioning. Excellent villa with private pool, beach access and located in not so crowded area. Great service and attention from the staff. One day wi-fi was not working due to some technical failure and Davina personally spent time to make sure that technician fixed the issues. We went for fishing and caught some fish. Sapna did the cooking and curry was outstanding. Overall very clean, nice and well equipped property. Pool was a really nice bonus. Recommended for a romantic holiday.
