The city is really nice, and very nice to walk around. It's very clean, friendly and interesting. I would definitely recommend this to other travellers as a stop off if they were travelling around the North of Albania. Next year, we will be travelling around the South... I found the shop shop and restaurant staff to be very rude and dismissive if they could not understand you. Avoid rehat kebab shop just off the square by the opera house as the old woman tries to short change you. If you wish to take van/bus to berat or other destinations. You need to go to plepa. And not rruga adria as people tell you.taxi is 1000 but Local bus is 40 cents. You pay the conductor. Mini van to berat is 500 each way. Beautiful, long, sandy beach, bustling, bubbly town, lots of shops, restaurants, cafes, we absolutely loved it, we will definitely come back. The only negative is that almost only cash is used in the 21st century in this European country.

Rubbish everywhere. The beach is filthy, plastic bags and empty bottles are everywhere, even in the water. The beach and surroundings are disgusting. The water is not crystal clear like advertised. It's clearly a city that is growing its tourism sector by building new hotels and restaurants along the coast. Durres is nice to visit for the day if you’re coming from...
Durres is nice to visit for the day if you’re coming from Tirana as it’s a 30 minute bus ride and only 180 lek. However, this is a case of Instagram vs reality, the photos of the beach do not measure up. Unfortunately the beach is riddled with building debris and plastic waste, making it unsafe to walk on barefoot. I would not return and would not come here for a beach holiday. Sunsets on the beach were nice.

As its only April improvements were taking place (painting etc) a new bar restaurant had been built on the ground floor, and was being completed with modern soft furnishings being installed. This means that the rooftop bar/restaurant and pool will be purely for guests. The chef created traditional Albanian meals for us (not on the menu) which were delicious. The hotel has an amazing location situated on the beach.

The rooms and facilities are great. 5 storey accommodation with roof terrace on top. Super food and great staff. Very friendly and all speak English as well as Albanian. Coffee and drinks good price and lots to choose from on the menu. Breakfast was plentiful but a bit European for me. Pool fantastic with loads of sunbeds, free towels and plenty of shade if you needed it. A great place to stay in Durres. We'll done.

A family run business and they do everything they can to make your stay amazing. The food was the best we've had and the room was spotless and had everything you need with its own private garden and access to the beach.
