It’s so nice to find a property that is dog friendly. My little 13 yr old boy goes everywhere with us. He has his own bed on the floor and sleeps beside me. Also when you work long hours you just need a break from it all. Sommers Bay Beach House ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️is the place to be.!

Very comfortable. Excellent appliances. A chemical free philosophy.
A nice ambience with original art, dried flower arrangements and … great for winter - a wood burner with good supply of timber.
We travelled as a couple and could choose between an upstairs or downstairs bedroom.
Nice garden to wander through. Saw a deer, pademelon and maybe a Tasmanian devil (maybe ?)

We just looked the look and feel of this place. It's also not far from the Port Arthur Historic site. The other bonus for us was having a restaurant a couple of steps away from our room. The manager was a beautiful soul very friendly. And the lady bartender and the girls working in the restaurant were also fantastic.

The cottage was very cosy and well-equipped. We had everything we need! Rod was an exceptional host. We have thoroughly enjoyed our tour on his farm which he has kindly taken us twice to during our stay! My child loves the farm and was so sad when we had to leave.

Saltwater River is a remote location and will suit those who want to 'get away from everything'. It is a quiet retreat with both beaches and bush. It is driving distance from some of South Tassie's treasures (Port Arthur, Tasman National Park, Fortescue Bay (and some spectacular walks), Remarkable Cave, Tesselated Pavement, Devil's Kitchen, Blowhole). There are very few dining options nearby, so it is best to self-cater. Saltwater River is a relatively sheltered area so good for water sports like paddleboards.

The accommodation was ok for a short stay ,but bed rooms and bathrooms too small for a family , the property was well equipped and clean , Very quiet and scenic and about 15 Km from Port Arthur along a country road and 5Km from the old coal mines . their is no town at saltwater river only a small corner shop as you drive to the accommodation so you have to drive to Port A. or back towards Eaglehawk Neck to find a restaurant or an IGA .
