Lovely sandy beachside town, friendly locals, great public transport especially the tram so easy to get to Ostend & Knokke-Heist. Fabulous bakeries !! We've been in the summer and winter as we have family living here. Beaches are fabulous in the summer & winter months, so much to do, always seems to be something going on somewhere along the coast, Christmas is fantastic, bike rentals are a must.

De Haan was lovely. It seems to be an upmarket seaside town.
De Haan was lovely. It seems to be an upmarket seaside town. I imagine it would look amazing in the summer, although with the Christmas lights it was magical at this time of year. Not many options for restaurants and most were very expensive. There was a lovely pop-up bar (basically an alpine-style wooden hut) which was rammed full every night with affordable beers and great atmosphere.

Lovely beach, really wide and long.
Lovely beach, really wide and long. Great supermarket (Delhaize) for self catering. Easy transport along the coast using the tram. Nice little town and the only one with low rise buildings behind the beach unlike the rest of the Belgian coast which has high rise apartments.

Very pretty and clean., tasteful resort. All low rise buildings. Great that the tram runs the length of the Belgian coast line. Lots of opportunities for cycling, walking. Small town at the seaside. Nice beach. Restaurants, shops etc. Ideal for people and families who prefer a smaller more quiet place. Someone looking for a more vivid atmosphere may prefer Knokke or Ostende.

We had a room with views of trees and the quaint courtyard. So relaxing! We slept well with the sea air. Feels like the hotel was recently upgraded since the fixtures, bed, and bath looked new. The breakfast was excellent: carefully planned, beautifully balanced, and the bread is the BEST in Belgium! The owners and staff clearly care about the property and their guests’ experience. Glad we booked several months in advance since the rooms filled up for a holiday.

The hosts created an atmosphere, which was warm, cosy and family like. Wonderful welcoming cake, delicious breakfast, privacy, very enjoyable common area, and the location couldn't be better in De Haan. What is definitely better than other B&Bs in the area is that Maison Rabelais is not at all pretentious, but truly welcoming towards guests, so we felt more comfortable, particularly with kids. All local quality products served with care and taste to be eaten in the house our outside. In short, a fantastic property that ticks all the boxes including a place to park your car.

Very relaxing property to stay in. Air con in some rooms which was great. We did bring some fans with us which helped. Great to have a washing machine and tumble dryer at the property. De haan itself is a lovely place with great restaurants, lovely clean beach, waffle shops and fun mini golf. We had a wonderful take away from Paname restaurant.
