River Park Inn, hotel in San Ignacio

This rural, tropical-style property is located along the Macal River in San Ignacio and features free Wi-Fi and on-site private parking. It offers lush gardens and patios with lounge chairs.

15mins walk into the main street of San Ignacio. Fridge , AC and hot water in the shower. Acres of space for parking. Simple room but very clean and excellent for us - we stayed an extra night. There is an (expensive) supermarket on the corner opposite to buy things for breakfast - as long as you don't want alcohol of any sort! This place suited us down to the ground. No qualms whatsoever about staying here again should we return.

Pine Ridge Lodge, hotel in San Ignacio

Pine Ridge Lodge has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in San Ignacio. Featuring a bar, the property is located within 18 km of Barton Creek Cave.

The host was super kind and went above and beyond to accommodate me and my mother after we had a terrible experience at Kane Villas, which was overpriced and vacant with no host or hostess. I recommend staying at Pine Ridge Lodge over anywhere else in this area. The facility is super clean, off the grid, and the staff makes you feel comfortable and at home. You can't go wrong staying at Pine Ridge Lodge if you are ever in the mountains of San Ignacio, Belize! The creek behind the rooms is a pleasant sound to fall asleep and wake up to! :) Two thumbs up!!!!

Great location at the top of the hill and right beside Cahal Pech. The restaurant food was amazing. The pool was great. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They filled up our water bottles when we left and provided us transport down the hill on a very hot day, which was very appreciated.

Venus Hotel, hotel in San Ignacio

Location was fantastic. Very central, and not noisy. Air conditioning was very good - cooled the room down quickly, and was quiet! Considering the highs of +43C, this was very much appreciated! Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Access to the butterfly reserve and pool at the Midas hotel (20 minute walk away) was much appreciated.

The hostel is very cute with the big tree in the lobby giving a sort of tree house vibe. We had private room, and it was spacious and with a/c! The location was great. There is a kitchen with everything you need. And Linda (a staff member) was such a nice person!

Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge, hotel in San Ignacio

Offering a restaurant and a private beach area, Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge is located in San Ignacio and is right next to the Botanic garden. Free WiFi access is available.

Since we are a family of 4 we booked a room with two double beds. The room was quite small and there was only room for two people to sit on the porch. Since renovation was being done to the room next to us and my husband complained about the noise we were upgraded to the garden cottage. I wasn’t too excited about the room but the garden cottage was fantastic for us as a family. The grounds of the resort are stunning and having the choice of swimming in the pool or tubing on the river was luxury. We loved the wildlife around the lodge.

    Nice small city- nice people.

Nice small city- nice people. Very close to Tikal in Guatemala- an excellent historic place to visit . We hired a cab for all 3 days. A bit pricey but was extremely convenient and the owner/driver was super nice.

Good place to base with lots of activities close by. We didn't spend much time in the town itself as we stayed slightly out of town center so cannot comment on restaurants and such. Good street food. Good grocery shopping to stock up.

We spent 2 full days there.

We spent 2 full days there. The first day we went to the local Mayan ruins of Cahal Peche and Xanantunich and the second we went cave tubing with Bellizean Caving Expeditions. Both were amazing experiences. If we had an extra day we would have loved to see the Mayan city of Carocal which is further away from town.

If you're looking for quiet and remote, then this is your place. There isn't much to do here. Thank God for the Casinos. They gave me something other than staring at the hotel walls to do. Visiting the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich, was great. But you definitely want to take the taxi from the ferry to the top of the hill, if you're not in good shape. Just a little way up the road is a restaurant named Sweet & Sour. The food was very good. I just wasn't feeling the cow foot soup. Lol. Although lots of advertisement says public transportation is available. However, unless you want to spend a small fortune, you absolutely need a car and a working cell phone for the GPS. The people in Belize were very helpful and friendly. It was great that most of them spoke English. This was a huge plus. The poverty here was heart breaking. I'm glad that I had an opportunity to visit. But I doubt that I will be going back any time soon.

The only thing that was horrific about this place was the hair braiding woman whose small shop is directly left from The Spot restaurant which is on the opposite side of the Venus hotel. The woman is violent. She gave us a big spill about how awful my daughters hair extensions were and that she would take it out and do it again. She said she would do it for 50USD. We accepted as she seemed like a nice lady but how wrong we were. She took the extensions out but then said she couldn’t remove the beads in my daughters hair and would need to leave them in. My daughter was horrified so I then had to bite every single one of them out myself. She then cut a three inch chunk of my daughters hair which is right on the crown. We told her we didn’t want her doing it and she bullied us to carry on. She then side platted my daughters natural hair and made a huge plaitted bump and then sowed the hair into the plait leaving a huge surplus of the hair extensions hanging. My daughter was so distraught and started crying and begged her to stop. She then took a 12 inch kitchen knife from her handbag and pepper spray on her key ring and said we must giver her the money. It was such a scary experience. Please please avoid this woman at all costs. We then complained to authorities whom explained she was mentally unstable. They wanted us to file a police report to have her arrested but we just wanted to leave the area.

    Easy to navigate on foot.

Easy to navigate on foot. The market is a must see for especially the food that is available throughout the day. Just like any other place, be careful at night time when walking downtown. We did feel very safe. Have bug repellents ready at night.

Self catering accommodation. Large family room. Use of kitchen. Water and coffee was provided free. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, even collected us from local airstrip for a few $ and also offered to do the laundry for a small fee! Easy walking distance into main town of San Ignacio where there was plenty of restaurants, bars, cafés, huge market on Saturday, smaller during the week. Tour operators collected us from the hotel. Highly recommend.

The location of Venus hotel could not have been any more central. It was supremely comfortable and staff were welcoming. The bonus was the balcony across the length of the hotel, just outside our room, that overlooked the town square. Loved it! Oh, and another bonus, that we took full advantage of, was the free use of the pool at their sister hotel, which was about a 10 minute walk away. We went hard in the morning, then relaxed by the pool in the afternoon.

We stayed in the room with the outdoor bathtub and it was phenomenal! The room was so beautiful and refreshing’ The staff were super friendly and helpful! I booked excursions in town instead of paying them. Breakfast was pretty good but could use a bit more options. They can provide you with a Shuttle to town or you can hail a cab on the road for cheaper. Photos are truly representative of how pretty this place is! And it’s clean!

Considering some of the prices of the competition, this place seems like the best deal for a private room in Cayo (depending on which rates you're able to get). The air conditioner is awesome, there's a solid wifi connection and the room is spacious enough to have a couch, mini-fridge and table. Mike is a friendly guy and the property is only a little ways over the bridge, not too far from the main tourist areas of San Ignacio.

This was our anniversary trip and - I left our passports in the room!! Yes I did. We didn't realize it until we got to the airport in Belize City. When I called & spoke to the front desk they found the passports and since the manager was going into Belize City the next day he went to the airport and had them sent to us on Tropic Air to San Pedro. The staff at San Ignacio Resort Hotel are just the best. And, I mean everyone.

The grounds were absolutely gorgeous. I liked that a lot of the forest was still intact and there were beautiful flowers throughout the property. The pool area and restaurant were well maintained and pretty. The staff were the best - they were exceptionally kind and spent a lot of time talking to me and making me feel welcome. They even searched for Toucans and ran over to grab me once they spotted them!

The hotel has a lot of potential, as it's in a beautiful old building, right by the river, with a beautiful (despite small) garden. All rooms have a view of the garden and river from the veranda outside the room. The staff tried their best to make the room and duvet tables look nice by decorating it with flowers. Staff was friendly and helpful. The Pol was small but nice for a plunge.

Room is basic but comfy. Food is simple but delicious. It’s not a full service restaurant but they try their best to cater to your needs. Dominic is a wonderful host and loves to spend time getting to know his guests. We really enjoyed our day out with the local tour guide he recommended, as well as the shuttle company that got us to San Ignacio and back to the airport.
