Location:quiet,beautiful landscape and with a very nice view over the water.Yet only 20 km from Castro.Due the to location, availability of a car is highly recommended..Staff are very friendly and helpful.The restaurant serves really good food.Recommend the use of the hot tub which is located in a beautiful spot.

I'd been to Castro several times, but this was my first...
I'd been to Castro several times, but this was my first during high season, and I'd advise travelers that unless you like sitting in backed-up traffic ('taco') for long stretches, just avoid Castro from mid-January to late February, when trying to drive from anywhere north of Castro to anywhere south of Castro can take hours. November-December are great, however, and I'm told March is the best month of all. By and large, Chiloé's charms are not to be found in the cities.

Castro is a really charming and very laid back place despite being the largest town on the island of Chiloe. It's a wonderful place to chill out, and there is some beautiful countryside in the vicinity. Next time when I go back, I'd like to rent a bike and explore the countryside more leisurely (this time I had a car).

I had long heard of how lovely Chiloe is and now I know why! Castro was charming, a nice mix of history and local culture. The municipal museum was informative, the UNESCO heritage churches were really interesting, the palafitos--houses on stilts along the waterfront--were very colorful. The weather can be quite variable--I had two sunny, nice days and three rainy cold ones--so travelers need to bring a variety of clothing choices. Well worth a visit!

The famous church is way better looking on the inside. Not much going on in the town itself, but a pleasant stop on the way, or base for other day trips. Highly recommend Nórdica Cafe for empanadas and sandwiches!

We stayed over Newyear's eve and New years day. And they arranged for a delicious meals to be brought to the lodge for us during a time many restaurants were closed. Parking was in a gated area and very secure. they have cat and dogs that were very friendly, but were kept outside our entire stay. The owners kept in contact with us prior to arriving. There is local artwork all over the rooms giving it such a unique vibe. The bedroom was lovely and the bed is probably the most comfortable one i’ve stayed in for months. It even had a heated blanket! The host Miguel is so lovely and gives lots of detailed plans of what to do in the area, with buses etc. He basically planned my whole time there for me which was so great!
