Wai Makare Homestay, hotel in Matayalevu

Facing the seafront in Naviti Island, Wai Makare Homestay features a private beach area and a garden. The homestay has family rooms.

We learn a lot of stuff at the homestay, from opening coconuts and picking nama, to spearfishing and even making a Fijian broom. The hikes are nice (though a bit steep)

Our extended family loved the location on the Blue Lagoon, the delicious meals. ( No compulsory meal plans 👍) and the activities included cave trip, island hopping, village visit and snorkeling. At night we enjoyed Fiji Meke, Karaoke and crab races. I also love the day spa and visited 3 times for very affordable treatments. We definitely would like to return one day.

Bay of Plenty Nature Lodge, hotel in Matayalevu

Bay of Plenty Nature Lodge is situated in Nanuya Lailai. Some units have a balcony and/or a patio with sea or garden views. At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving local cuisine.

One of our favourite stays in Fiji. We were hosted by the wonderful Evelyn, who is so genuine and caring and her cooking is delicious. Evelyn kindly catered to our vegan diets, which we heavily appreciate. If you like alternative milk with breakfast, bring some with you and they will kindly refrigerate it for you. Alesia was a wonderful helper and I enjoyed speaking with her. The room was beautiful, light and airy, with a lovely view. Definitely check out the blue lagoon beach and don't miss the summit hike either! Note that if you wish to swim every day, the best option is to go to the blue lagoon, as the property is among mangroves so you can't swim there. The first boat trip to the lagoon is free and from then on it's just $20pp return which is good value. We loved eating together with other guests.

S@fe Landing Lodge, hotel in Matayalevu

Facing the beachfront, S@fe Landing Lodge offers 2-star accommodation in Nacula Island and features a garden, terrace and restaurant.

One of our favourite stays in the Yasawas. Such friendly staff and a great range of activites. We did the Sawa i Lau cave trip with Tevita which was excellent (make sure to bring some cash for the ladies selling things on the island) and I loved the free Fijian lesson! We also did the reef hopping snorkel which was great- we saw a white tip reef shark! Make sure to visit the quaint local tea house. If you love dogs it's a bonus as we fell in love with the dogs here. Our room was perfect, overlooking the beach, and you can basically roll out of bed and into the turquoise waters! The staff catered for us being vegan which we really appreciated. If you want alternative milk for breakfast, you can bring it yourself and they will kindly refrigerate it for you (alternative milks are expensive on the islands so next time I would buy it on the mainland). I especially loved how you eat together with other guests- we met some great people. Make sure to bring enough cash! I miscalculated so needed a top up and you can do so on Nanuya but the withdrawl amount is limited and you will have to go by boat. Best to bring plenty for activities.
